Hey ALL- long time no post from the STARS...Howstar and I ventured out of our local fishing areas to catch up on a little R&R, camping, and of course fishing in Sequoia National Forest; specifically King's Canyon. Neither of us had been fishing "AL Natuaral" before (meaning to a natural running river or stream with native fish) so we wondered what nature would have in store for us. We started off morning #1 using a few selective flys on our spinners with no luck the first 40 minutes or so. We took a break to set up camp and came back to a spot a little further "up stream" and of course I was the first to do the happy dance with my 8 inch native trout. Howstar was not too far behind with the second native catch a few minutes later. Over the weekend we fished up and down King's River both wading in the frigid water and from rocks and the shore. Howstar caught the only Rainbow between the two of us. Its colors were so bright and vivid-unlike the stockers we see at SARL or Irvine. All of our fish were CPR so that others will hopefully have the same opportunities we had. I have included some pictures for you!!! Enjoy.....We did!!!!

Great job up there!

I would take stream fishing over lake fishing any day just for the opportunity to catch a wild fish.

Sarl and Irvine trout have no color because they are genetically manufactured and sold in bulk. Think about it... if SARL gets stocked every freakin week... they probably dont care what the fish look like or what condition they are in, as long as they get their stocking everyone is happy.

As for native trout,
they survive long enough for their natural colors to come out and they taste alot better than stockers.

Did all that nature wreck you guys.??...

It is hard to go to SARL (hole in the ground with water) after tasting the sweetness of nature. Beautiful colors huh?

Nice trip guys, you'll be back....
