i know lobster season doesn't start for another few months but in the mean time, i'm thinking about buying a hoopnet to catch crabs

since i'm new to hooping for crabs......where are some places i can try hooping besides the piers. i'm in the harbors and bays fishing a lot and am wondering if i'll have any chances at catching crabs in the harbors and bays.

also...and if anyone can help me out with what types of baits should i use, best times of day/night for hooping, any websites with info, all the general stuff that i should know....that would be great

thanks

I've seens ome hoopnetters from the piers, but from what i understand, most people hoopnet from boats in the harbors and breakwalls.

i would stick to piers or from boats only. If you try from jettys you double your risk of getting your hoopnet stuck

your best chances are from a boat cuz u can move around alot. but i heard the redondo break wall is a good spot.

good luck
