7-29 Newport Surf

Hey all, the opportunity presented itself this morning and I ran down to Neport Beach for a little surf action. I fished the incoming tide from about 6:30 to 9:30 with a c-rigged Gulp sandworm, the surf was bout 2-3 ft, and there was not a sandcrab bed in sight. Right around 15th street I was catching palm sized perch on almost every cast. I did catch one nice bsp in that area which was probably about 8 or 9 inches. Nothing spectacular but I had a good time and figured I might as well report, sorry no pictures.

Hey, almost a fish a cast, not to shabby. No matter what was on the end of the line, plus the joy of being there....almost anyboy would take a session like that!

I went there today. I had similiar results, but i did manage to find some crabs. No solid beds in sight, but if you did on some of the undulating sand, they're there carrying roe in small quantities.
