WFO Halibut at Redondo Harbor 7.27.08

First time out in the salt for me this year and i had a great time out in the water with CrappieMike and his neighbor Russ...We rented a skiff from the harbor to fish the rocky point area...got there at 6 and headed straight to bait barge to pick up half scoop mix of anchovies and sardines...Russ "the halibut master" took us to the spot and it was WFO on them halibuts but they were all small (15-20 inches)...had a great time catching and releasing those young halibuts...we must caught over 30 among us three within an hour....i was to busy catching and releasing i forgot to take pictures of the halibut but we all know what short halibut looks like...i did take some while picking up some bait:


Our back up plan was these mussels for perch but ended up not using it:

looks like we both had a similar experience on the same day in terms of the WFO shortie bite...but it is still exciting though, isn't it? :Cool:

is killer.. We usually score a couple keepers out there.....

Saw three legals caught on hermosa pier thursday right before dark 24 to 29 inches.I was there two hours fishing for mackie.
