Greeted the sun this morning under a plume of fog and a soft cool breeze...

The surf is still a bit small--but bigger than last week. It's good on the one hand by keeping some of the surfers out of our best spots. But it's no so good for corbina as they are more wary of waders and crabs with a hook.
But today didn't matter!
It was almost a fish every cast today with the bulk of fish being small palm sized perch. They reminded me of mackeral and made it harder for corbina to find my bait.

I was thinking of TJ, Wing, Blackwater and Klocked when I saw the bait boat catching sardine and chovey just outside the surf line. There's no doubt that bait ball was holding the mother load of halibut!

Once you could wade through the perch, the corbina were hungry and biting. Three fish landed and three lost--not very good:Embarrassed:--but heart pumping all the same. All the fish were in the 14-17" range with no toads to be seen.

A mild west wind began to pick up around 10am so it was off to the office. It's been a great week down on the beach. You've seen the reports with all the fish you would expect during the summer.

There's no question, if you're a surf fisherman now's the time to head to the beach:Smile:!
