OK so I decided I want to start yak fishing but the damn thing is so hard to use and I was thinking about taking a class if anyone knows where I can do this? I took it to puddingstone got about 30 yards from shore almost flipped it turned around and beached it. I sat and let the ego recover before I loaded it up and brought it home. I am currently in the process of putting sum outrigger floats (training wheels) on it. I am sure their is allot of things a class can teach me so even though I am fixing the stabilization problem I would like to attend a class just for the general safety/technique.

Thanks, Nate

BTW. It is a TADCO sit on top fiberglass kayak Built in 1979, Yeah I was  Too

Here are some good places to start:

http://kayak4fish.com/
http://bigwatersedge.com/
http://www.kayaksportfishing.com/phpBB2/index.php
http://www.plasticnavy.com/

Do a search or post for a recommended on the water classe.

I would guess that your stability issues are due to your kayaks hull design.
Your kayak is made for touring and speed rather than stability and storage
Test ride as many kayaks as you can. With more experience, it will not
matter which kayak you use for fishing.

Took the class with him last weekend. This guy is really safety oriented. Great for the beginner. He takes an hour and a half before you go out to talk about safety equipment and how to handle yourself on the water. Then he sets you up with a Hobie Kayak, fishing gear and food. After that you get about 5-6 hours of fishing in. He goes out of anywhere from San Diego to Huntington beach, wherever you're located. I went out of Huntington with him, caught of few spotties. Great guy, really works hard to teach you everything he can.

REI does seminars, both in store and on the water, all summer long. I'm sure you can find the schedule on the website. If not, you can pick up a seminar schedule in one of the stores.

In store cost is $20, outings are $95 and I think they include everything (gear, yak, etc).

Yeah when I bought the thing it was the right price (considering I was not sure If I will like it) and It is very comfy.
It Is actually a sea kayak With a spot for a scuba tank. I thought it would be very stable
