howzit'

so i made the effort the other day to hit up the beach, i had halibut on the mind, but life aint as easy as Wingnut and some of you display on your post's. so i began tossing the L/C, the surf god's werent having none of it as they increased the wave size immensely. after being bullied around and just not having any luck attaching to a fish, i gravitated to a little jetty that protruded to just past the waves. to keep it short i threw berk/plastics and started hammering the surf perch, 4# izorxxx smoke, set up carolina 6 mosquito, was killing it. it died out for awhile so i picked up this monster of a muscle i saw in the water and that produced quit a few more. since you all know what a s/p looks like, i wont bore you with all of them, heres a few.

heres my first

i dont think this guy made it, he just devoerd my gulp, but i cut the line a sent him on his way.

this guy was tough for being so little, we faught on waters edge as waves crashed and rained down upon me vivaciously, one reason i love the rocks.

http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll140/GOTFISSUES/200807120004.jpg

then i cracked this beast of an ecosystem open, he had ten muscles on him including lipids and other crazy thing. tons of meat, i threw the shell back after i cut him out. my friend for the venture was this june bug chillin'

http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll140/GOTFISSUES/200807120002.jpg

the muscle meat was rediculous, if i didnt land one i faught three on the retrieval, heres one

http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll140/GOTFISSUES/200807120006.jpg

and then there was this one, heres my big dog for the day, he pulled drag, nothing like some others that have been posted but surely my best to date, kinda bummed he was on bait but whatevas'

so there it is, glad i changed up my fishing scenery, it paid off, im still going back for the hali's on the L/C but its a new technique and dont plan on mastering it overnight. though i didnt keep it on the sand it seems fitting for me to end up on rocks.

its hard to find a level rock but heres where i love to be

Nice report, keep at it and you'll get that Hali soon.
Perch are pretty resilient, the bleeding one probably will make it ;)
Thanks for all the release and for the nice report.

Nice post. Yea, he should make it. Didn't they pass some law to require them make the hooks dissolve in salt water after a day or 2? i dont know, could be mistaken..

Nice report. Congrats to you on your fine catches.

That ain't no June Bug, that is a Japanese Beetle. http://www.livingwithbugs.com/japanese_beetle.html

I ain't never seen, nor heard of, a hook that'll dissolve in a day.

THNX for the report.

Nice perchies!
They love those mussles. I dig how you called it an "ecosystem", because that's kindof what it is really. Keep it up with the LC! after a while you'll figure out the time and the place ;)

sskid,
much appreciated,

wingnut,
thanx for the words of encouragement, im going tomarow morning L/C in hand, hali's on the mind. you need to post a video of your technique, im sure they will pay$$$

doyfmuch,
i hope he does make it, i get bummed if they die and dont end up in my frying pan, dont know about the hook thing, as much as i fish some hooks, i believe they would ware away as i fished them???

thanx for your reply and i dig your post as well, so i googled june bug and this is what i got

http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&q=june+bug&gbv=2

then i did the same with japanese beetle and this is what i got,

http://images.google.com/images?gbv=2&hl=en&q=japanese+beetle&btnG=Search+Images

so i figured since my june bug is in the Phyllophaga group, a genus of beetles in the subfamily Melolonthinae of the family Scarabaeidae, consisting of 250 variants also known as June bugs or June Beetles, it was easy for you to mistake it for a japanese beetle which is also a member of the scarab beetle family. This large, diverse family has about 20,000 species world wide. In North America there are about 1375 species in 120 genera and 13 subfamilies.
however the japanese beetle is primarily located in and around michigan and wisconsin, and japan. no biggie
