Got back this morning from a quick 1.5 dayer on the Pac Queen (Bill Cavanaugh). Just wanted to drop a few lines to tell you guys the fish are there to be had, and as some of you know, the albies and BFT can vanish quickly, or stay around for a month....so you take your chances by waiting for a steady "WFO" bite....or just get out there now and score while you can! Ha ha!! As for the trip, it was a macrame party (33 passengers), with a final count of 75 albies & 3 BFT (smaller units). I ended up with 6....a few on the bait, couple jig and a slider. Not a whole lot of troll fish caught.

Hi sansou,

I suspect you, yourself did well so ......... I'll say way to go !! From my few experiences ... even faithfully doing the tuna shuffle .... one is still in for a hassle with the tangles. I hate causing people problems! Yet another reason I don't do tuna trips ... and miss out on all the yummy sushi and sashimi !!

I like your advice ..... gamble and get them while they're in the reports !! With good success ..... you'll want to go again later anyways !!

Wish you would have given us one of your usual, full-detail reports !! But that's ok .... this time ! ha ha ha

Thanks for the kind words. I'll post pics when I figure out what's up with my aging fishing camera.

In deference to Japan Ron who always gives us great fishing tips, I do want to say something about something I learned about throwing the jig at tuna:

For years and years I've been a Newell guy, and will always be. However, for the first time tuna fishing I threw a 2 speed Avet JX. Most of my jigs have trebles, and up until now, I almost never had a problem with them. However, with the use of a 2 speed, I paid dearly not having a siwash hook on the jigs because I pulled the hook at least 4 times. It was a good lesson, at the expense of my ego. My drags were set pretty tight, as they should be for jigging w/40lb, as you can horse the fish in a bit. With a 2 speed and tight drags PLUS a treble, this will invariably result in you pulling the hook out of the tuna's weak beaks. I learned my lesson....and will not repeat this next week on my 1.5 dayer...

Thanks guys. I put the C-note on the fish for visual reference as it was not my fish, and I wanted you guys to get an idea of what that guy's JP winner (36lbs) looked like. My six are in the last pic, with my biggest barely at 30lbs. I'll be out this saturday on the Condor's 1.5 dayer....if you're around say hello or come join us. These recent dorado appearances have me wondering how much longer we will be longfinning....
