We launched at Davies 9AM and it was a zoo! Lucky to find a place to park... which made me think, do they stop letting people in the gate when the parking is full? Probably not. No matter. http://64.62.190.109/new-site/Smileys/default/fishing.gif

http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c323/cairnst/Drift%20fishing%20with%20Bruce%20and%20Chris/IMG_0594.jpg (http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c323/cairnst/Drift%20fishing%20with%20Bruce%20and%20Chris/IMG_0594.jpg)

Bruce and Olfishergal pulled up behind us and we were out to get bait right away. Nice big dines http://64.62.190.109/new-site/Smileys/default/thumb.gif We made a couple drifts from the first oil island and a couple more over towards the Belmont shore pier. Mike and I both got raked a couple times but nothing stuck. Olfishergal was pulling on something big at one point and a big boat came by and almost sunk Bruces boat. http://64.62.190.109/new-site/Smileys/default/middle.gif Well, it wasn't that bad, but little boat, big wake, fish on, not good. That one popped off. Bruce also caught something, but I was too far to see what it was.

http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c323/cairnst/Drift%20fishing%20with%20Bruce%20and%20Chris/IMG_0601.jpg (http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c323/cairnst/Drift%20fishing%20with%20Bruce%20and%20Chris/IMG_0601.jpg)

The wind and water started getting really sloppy, so we made a move to the turn around point back towards the launch. Did a drift there and then said goodbye to Bruce and Olfishergal. They said they wanted to go check out the eye candy on the beach instead. http://64.62.190.109/new-site/Smileys/default/dribble.gif

Mike and I continued to drift for a bit and then it seemed like suddenly we were surrounded by all these little kids in sail boats! http://64.62.190.109/new-site/Smileys/default/laugh2.gif So we decided to move back out to open water. Tried to drift Ester, but the wind and current were a little too much, so we moved back over to the oil islands for a little protection and anchored. Spent about an hour at anchor and hooked up with these.

Let them swim away and then decided to call it a day. Bruce can fill in with the details. I'm off to go win a pool game. http://64.62.190.109/new-site/Smileys/default/buttrock.gif

http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c323/cairnst/Drift%20fishing%20with%20Bruce%20and%20Chris/IMG_0602.jpg (http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c323/cairnst/Drift%20fishing%20with%20Bruce%20and%20Chris/IMG_0602.jpg)

Thanks for the invite Bruce... it sure beat burning up at the lake. http://64.62.190.109/new-site/Smileys/default/nod.gif Let's do it again sometime.

Granny,
It was good to see you at the launch area at Davies. My friend Jen and I were there early and were just leaving when I stopped by to say hello on our way out. My Triumph CC is just a little small out there a few miles beyond the breakwater  Think I may need a bigger boat someday
At least something to get me to the backside of the Island as well as sleep in...
We did not have much luck today. But.. It didn't really matter.. It was too much fun
Just beautiful out there! Nice and Cool ! Very relaxing
C ya out there soon again!

Take care
Rodger

What do you mean "good one" Trust me, there was a lot of good pairs. The wind was a little steep and kept us inside. There was unbelieveable boat traffic, both while we were there and the day and night before. What with July 4th and the Queen Mary fireworks. I don't think anyone did any good inside the wall. Still, it was a fun day. What else can you say about great weather and good friends?

I had a wonderful time out on the H20 with all of you. Thanks for the invite Bruce, I am in love with the Ocean and ready to go again. I was quite upset at that inconsiderate dude that almost swamped us while I was trying to get my big one in. When I first hooked up and pulled, felt like I was hung up in the rocks until it started coming up. anyway, I know I was close to color when we got hit with that 5 foot swell and Mr. fish, took advantage and ping!!!! busted my 12lb test......First time I ever heard Bruce use that type cuss words at another vessel, Anyway, since I hooked it on the bottom on a chovy, I will believe it was a huge butt. I am ready to go again and get um this time. Think its best to avoid the holiday boat traffic and amatuers with no class. And, yes, One_leg, there was some very nice eye candy wearing speedos with no beer guts either....... A great cool day on the water, lets do it again soon...OFG

Thanks for the pics and report. There are a lot of people who have no respect for other boaters out on the ocean you should have used your banana launcher on them Bruce but put a torpedo sinker instead.

I'm getting so sick of the salt....not!!!

Sorry to hear about the maddening crowd..truly an exercise in futility

when everyone's hitting the same area HARD...NOBODY really makes out that well

Oh well, at least you got to oogle some strange booty...pervs...(my kinda folk)..he he

Seriously though shoot me a line next time you head out...I'd be more than happy to pitch

in on gas and bring some of wife's favorite Israeli cooking

Sounds like an adventure. I'll keep you in mind, but a lot of our trips are "fly by the seat of your pants" type of trips. As in unplanned.

Hey Wingnut! Some day I'll catch a halibut from the surf like you... or someday I'll catch a halibut. I'll settle for what ever comes first.

I love the way Mr. G has a firm grip on the tail of that little shark.

He is deathly afraid of sharks. He wanted to club it before it came on the boat. :ROFL:I told him it was just a saltwater catfish, but evidentally he wasn't buying it. Look at the way it's trying to turn around and bite him.

Haven't forgotten your 12 pack G$ Unless we hook up before, legends will be the delivery date...........used my new rod and I love it. I haven't gotten a new reel yet, still a lil short on the $$. I did put one of my old coffee grinders on for now. Plan on a new one as soon as I get some of my kids college bills caught up. Haven't had enough of the salt yet, so put catfish on the backseat until the bite picks up a bit. Seems to be, wasn't at its best until August.
