Left the docks Tue night (July 1st) at 8:30p with 19 anxious anglers on board the Endeavor out of Seaforth Landing. Captain Dave I. with crew of Diron U, Russ B, and John Y, and one of the best boat cooks in the San Diego Fleet, Eddie W. The new facility looks great and the parking lot is fully paved. Seaforth is very convenient in terms of parking and it's a short walk to the boats. Three of the anglers were newbies, so they were hopeful of catching their first longfin. Recent albacore counts were dismal, but we remained optimistic because "the best time to go fishing is when you can go fishing." Tanks loaded with mixed sardines and chovies. Arrived on the fishing grounds early morning...trolled and trolled and trolled and trolled in choppy seas with moderate swells. No fish until first jig stop at 12:30p. Fished until dark (8:15p) and we ended Day 1 with 27 albies averaging 20-25lbs. Fortunately, the winds started to subside and conditions looked much improved for Day 2. Started trolling around 5:30a and first jig stop at 6a with a few bait fish. Well, Captain Dave found two hungry schools of albies and it was game on. Day 2 ended with 76 albies caught with the largest weighing in at 34lbs. Everyone caught an albacore. Final Score: 103 albacore and 1 bluefin tuna. Jackpot was a fatso 34lb albie. Saw the Searcher and First String fishing in the same zone. Well, it's "Sashimi" and "Poki" time. Until the next trip, tight lines from the Big Kahuna. Oh, the boat docked at 10p last night, so we were a long way from home...Time for a nap.
