First off, DavidE, it was tight fishing with you bro. Cant wait for the next round.
We booked an overnighter on the Sea Adventure 80 and everything ran pretty smoothly. We both got there on time and we both had the right gear. Got on board, chatted it up a bit and it was off the bait reciever.
Decided to toss a plastic during the down time and BAM, first cast I hook and land a small Bolina. David Snaps a shot.
I hit the sack and David untwists his line before he knocks out too. I get up at 1:30AM when the boat stops to see if there is any fishing to be done. I toss a plastic out for a bit for nothing. Chat with Patrick who has the night shift. Dude was on Deadliest Catch which was pretty cool. He ends up hooking and releasing a large squidder. After that I decide to head to bed until dawn.
Morning rolls around and people start fly lining baits at the anchored spot for nothing. This rock pile is dead so we head to the Coronados. First drift I get to the bow to toss a scrambled egg heavy iron for nothing. David hooks on to his first fish at the stern. 20# class yellow oughta do it. He's only got 20lb test but he manages to turn the damn thing around after it gets close to spoolin him, skills right there. Fish landed!
Next few drifts I switch between the iron and bait, but end up sticking to bait after a while since the iron only produced two fish the whole trip. I hook up to a nice barry but that was it for me. no yellows=(.
David hooks onto another fish, so I get the camera to snap pics of the bendo but NOOO, he pulls it up before I get there. Skills again for a nice barry.
It was pick and roll for the next few hours and the boat counts reflect that. 21 anglers - 12 Yellows, 2 calicos, 5 Barries
Till next time, FNN should really do a Charter..
