First and foremost, a HUGE thank you to Dana and Parchers Resort..!

Left Thursday (6/19) morning around 5am from the Lake Perris area, made a stop in Ridgecrest to stretch and get some cheaper fuel, before getting up in the Sierras.
Nice little town.

Next stop was the Mt.Whitney Portal, in Lone Pine. If you ever get the chance to go I would recommend it. The road heads up to the Trailhead, there is camping and parking under large trees and even a stocked pond to get your fishing in the Sierras started.

Checking out the fish, the pond is only a few feet deep, but lots of fish....I bet the bears like that...

There is also an incredible cascading waterfall...!!

http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll210/SoCalGuy7/Parchers%20vacation%206-19/DSC09010.jpg

On to Bishop!
Made a stop at Mac's Sporting goods, picked up a Bouyant that I had not seen before (pictured later). Then the kids wanted Mickey D's...
Got some more gas, and headed up the hill, around 1pm..

Stayed on the fork to the right to check out Sabrina first.

http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll210/SoCalGuy7/Parchers%20vacation%206-19/DSC09040.jpg

We fished the Dam area for half an hour, wind was blowing in our faces. It was more of a "see the lake" trip. Took some pics.

http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll210/SoCalGuy7/Parchers%20vacation%206-19/DSC09045.jpg

http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll210/SoCalGuy7/Parchers%20vacation%206-19/DSC09070.jpg

Checked out the Sabrina outflow stream. Saw some fish, but wanted to get to Parchers.

http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll210/SoCalGuy7/Parchers%20vacation%206-19/DSC09074.jpg

Arrived at Parchers at 2:30 pm. We were impressed with the whole operation.

http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll210/SoCalGuy7/Parchers%20vacation%206-19/DSC09088.jpg

Checked in, got most of our gear loaded into the cabin.
We walked around the resort and saw Dana and a few Fnn-ers
and some guy named Sansou...( Hey Rich! ) He was telling us that he might be sleeping outside all buttered up for the Bears.....:ROFL:Since his group wasn't there yet..

On to South Lake, 1.2 miles up the road.
Found a patch of snow near the parking lot. Here is SoCalkid2
throwing a snowball at me...

http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll210/SoCalGuy7/Parchers%20vacation%206-19/DSC09098.jpg

Another snow pic.
We didn't even think we'd encounter any snow in the third week in June.

http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll210/SoCalGuy7/Parchers%20vacation%206-19/DSC09099.jpg

We hiked down to the shore to get in a couple of hours before dark.
I bait up SCK2's pole and throw it in to get everyone started...

About 25 seconds later, I look over to see her pole all bent over, I tell her to grab it, and set the hook...

http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll210/SoCalGuy7/Parchers%20vacation%206-19/DSC09101.jpg

Here she is with the first fish of the trip.

http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll210/SoCalGuy7/Parchers%20vacation%206-19/DSC09102.jpg

Ironically, she hasn't caught anything since she was 5 years old...Now she gets the first one....

About ten minutes later SoCalKid1 hooks up and brings in a nice rainbow, here assisting with the net is SoCalGirl7.

http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll210/SoCalGuy7/Parchers%20vacation%206-19/DSC09105.jpg

Chatted with some people before heading out to North Lake.

Took the half paved road up to North Lake(El 9300ft), kind of a steep road, with
no side rails..

It was crowded, we had to walk around half the lake to find a spot.

http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll210/SoCalGuy7/Parchers%20vacation%206-19/DSC09144.jpg

The weather was great but the fishing was slow.

While fishing on the Northwest end of the lake, I noticed something moving that resembled a large Housecat. It looked like a squirrel-beaver love child....A Squiever is what we were calling it. Also, we called it McLovin'....

http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll210/SoCalGuy7/Parchers%20vacation%206-19/Parchers%20Part%202/dsc09385.jpg

Later we asked Jared about it and he said it was a Marmot.

On the way home, in Bishop we noticed a huge cloud off in the distance....as we got closer we realized it was actually smoke from a fire in the Sequoia National Forest. Here are some pics we took near Olancha...

What a great event made even BETTER by the fact that you, Emily and your family attended!

Thank you for sharing so many great photos and such an outstanding report! I appreciate it all very much!

I promise we will be returning to the Sierra's again next year and I will give a well in advance heads up so everyone can schedule!

Thanks again for adding to the event and help making it one of our best ever!

I loved all the pictures of smiling faces, beautiful scenerey and fish. You have a beautiful family. That camp ground at Tom's Place is where my kids first fell in love with the Sierras. We built a lot of happy memories there. Your family reminds me of us when we were raising our kids. Thanks for the report.

I can't believe how low the water level is at Grant and Gull Lakes...

Is the lake as big as Gull lake or smaller where your cabin was?

Most lakes were down, the only one that looked good was Convict...

It didn't seem long at all. I could have taken more!

What about using the family pic in front of the waterfall for the Christmas card?

Question about one pic... Is that a Buoyant or some other brand that's close? And how did you make up the maxi-jig? It looks great!

The lightning bolt lure is a buoyant...It worked well too!

The jig-head is off some cheap walmart jigs, the bodies are either from Turners or BPS...I can't remember...They have a small blue stripe and large green stripe...they were packed in some salt....

The waterfall pic is great too....

Yeah, I don't know .. I found them at the WalMart in Highland on my way up to Big Bear a few weeks back. The ones I found were with the black bolt and red bolt. They still don't work as good as the Watermelon, Fire Tiger, Gold/Red bouyants. I found a new bouyant I'm going to try soon... I'll post up pics of it.

You should pick up some of the tear drop shaped bouyants.. they absolutely tore it up last time up there.. it's smaller, and has the same color and wobble as the bigger bouyants. They are cheaper too. There's a pic of one of them on my eastern sierra report.

Will check that out......I had an "eel" made by buoyant, kinda like a kastmaster, but lost it when I had a loop around my reel and snapped it off while casting... only used it once..

Well, this was an incredible trip! We had such a great time!!! Thank you so much to Parcher's and Jared for your hospitality! I wish I had your backyard, Jared...lol.

Dana & D (I know D had some help in the planning ;)), Thanks for picking Parcher's for our first Annual  Sierra event!! All I can say is....WOW!

Honey, I had an amazing time! I even loved our trip home...you know how I like road trips! :D Thanks for making this a great family trip...you know the kids will never forget it, neither will I! ;)

Well, here's the story about my ripped....or shall I say, R.I.P....pants. I found these jeans in the back of our closet a couple days before our trip. I thought, cool new fishing pants.... They did have a little hole near the back pocket, but I didn't want to patch them...BIG MISTAKE!

On our second day up at Parcher's, I wore the jeans. As the day went on, the little hole was getting bigger...oops! Here's where it all went down hill...

After fishing at North Lake most of the day, we headed back up to South Lake. The day before, we fished near the launch ramp. This time we thought we'd hike in a little more. Well, we found the STEAPEST, rockiest hill to traverse down. :Rolls Eyes: I'm carrying the backpack and our shore bag, and about half way down the hill....smack! I landed on my behind and discovered my pants were now ripped. About 3 inches! Oh well I can still fix them later...

Get down to the water....rrriiiiiiiiiiip! Another 2 inches. Hmm... That was pretty much the rest of my day. Lean over to pick something up, rip! Walk over to one of the kids, rip! By the time we climbed back up to the car, they were ripped to my mid thigh! No joke!!!

Here's the pic....

http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll210/SoCalGuy7/DSC09243.jpg

I'm not sure if I will be able to fix them or make anything out of them....maybe a jean belt?

Anyway, that's my story about the ripped pants...by far the most I have ripped a pair of pants ever!

Looking forward to Legends....and even more to next year's trip to Parcher's!!! :D
