Need advice on Catalina/Ocean set up

Headed to the Island Saturday and was wondering what set up to use. Berkely gulp minnows maybe. Something artificial if it will work. My buddies boat is really nice. Want to keep things as clean as possible. Thanks in advance! Medium to medium heavy rod? 15 lb test. Spinning

You should be able to use all kinds of fish traps plastic along with berkley gulp prodcuts ....

But for best results, prolly want to go with some live stuff or some frozen squid .....

It really depends on what fish you will be targeting.. but ya 15lbs test on medium action rod is perfect for calicos and bonitas but you might want to have some bigger set ups for fishing rock fish or those elusive WSB/YT something like medium heavy/heavy action rod with anything from 25-40lbs test for those bigger deeper fish. Catalina has alot of kelp so you want to be able to keep those fish away from that... good luck
