So the gf and I are headed to Cabo on July 2nd. Gonna be staying at a hotel on the marina. It's my first time so I was hoping I could get some info from people who have fished there.
Figuring I'd want to get a panga for the two of us, and was wondering how much I should be paying. And what kind of tip I should give the guide.
I'm not going to bother bringing any of my rods or reels, but should I bring some irons or anything like that?

Marina fiesta ?
Great hotel , rooms are a little dated

Check out the back pool, you can usually have it all to yourself with a bartender and volleyball net.

I used a regular boat "Ernies too"
12 Dorado (including 1-50+ lbs Bull)
1 Sailfish
1 YFT

In case you didn't catch my post last year

Nice. Thanks for the info. Great report.
Ya we will be staying at Marina Fiesta. Would be cool if we met up with some other people and got on a charter like you did.

If you are looking for sailfish or tuna, then yeah charter a 6 pack with others looking for same thing as you. If just to get some Dorado go down to the docks, ask for Capt. Jacinto. He has a panga that he and his son will take out for $120. In 2 hours I had 15 Dorados up to 35-40 pounds.
When you have what you want take your fish to the bar right there on the docks and they will clean it, cook it give you side dishes and a couple of drinks for $20. You can't go wrong with any fishing you do down there.

STAY AWAY FROM THE GUYS PUSHING BOAT TRIPS AND HIT THE DOCKS!!

Yep yep what he said.
All the restaurants on the marina will fix up your fish and add some side and tortillas for $7-9 per person. We used ole ole and arts and sushi next to the boat ramp

Ozzie "Old Man of The Sea" Vazquez has the Panga "El Tapir" Last time I fished with him it was $180. He's been there forever and really knows his stuff. He's up there in years so I hope he's still at it. Cabo number 624-143-1772 US number is 011-52-624-143-1772 Cabo Cell was 044(624)11-33220

(He's good enough that I've carring his card my wallet for the last 5 years.)

BTW: If you fish with him you don't need to bring your own gear. TLD's, decent sticks and not they're overkill rigs (too heavy) that you find on most of the cruisers.

Cabo's a great place to fish...have fun.
