I'm just getting into surf fishing and I'm hearing a lot of referrences to "red tide."
It's my understanding that it's some sort of algea bloom. Is that right?
Also, where is this a problem? Is is unique to certain areas?
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

It can pretty much happen anywhere where there's an open face of water on any stretch of coastline. I've seen it twice at Long Beach already and once or twice around Huntington. Generally, if there's red tide in one area, there will probably be red tide in other areas not far as well.
