Picked this title hoping this will not be the last of the season. After picking up my grandpa and fueling up ($90) left Highland @10am and made it to Toms Place around 230. Unloaded everything and decided to get a couple hours of fishing before the rest of our party arrives.

FRIDAY
Hit Twin Lakes and fished in front of Tamarack Lodge. Grandpa caught 1, Dad 7 rainbows and 1 brook while I caught 2 and lost what would of been my first Alpers in the Sierras. After my fish made 2 LONG runs i got it almost to net lenght before it went into some brush and snapped my line. My dad and grandpa used inflated worms while I used a green/white power mouse set up. Not bad for 2 hours of fishing. Gave our fish to a family who been fishing all day and were hoping to catch dinner.

SATURDAY
Got up early and rented a boat at Gull Lake. In my opinion they have the best boats at a great price in the Sierra's. Fished in front of the marina for the fist 4 hrs and the fish were biting. 5 of us caught 30+ on inflated worms and pb. I caught 8 fish, 2 on yellow Gulp and 6 on brown w/ black flake power worms. All fish were decent size ranging from 12-14". After lunch the bite slowed way down and didnt pick up til 5. We managed a few more trout and i caught about a dozen or so little perch. Didn't catch the first or biggest but i caught the most!

SUNDAY
Started out at Convict. My dad and myself managed 2 small fish and we all lost numerous fish and set-ups due to the rocks. No fun so we left and went to Crowley. Fished Hilton Bay and caught our fish (my dad and I) on inflated n/c. We left around 2 as the wind picked up and almost blew us in the water. After lunch and restocking the ice chest we went up to Rock Creek Lake. We all caught as they were on the small side. My uncle and cousin stay as the rest of us went back to Crowley for round 2. Same bait, location with much better results. At one point all 3 of us were on fish. In 45 minutes we caught 7 fish including my Sierra personal best. It went 20" and weighed 3.5 pounds!

On our way home we stoped and Mt. Whitney and fed the fish hoping to catch them next time. It was a great weekend away from the "real" world. Never fished Twin Lakes or Crowley so that was a blast. Even with gas prices so high it was well worth it. No bump on any pay lakes in So. Cal but you cant beat the scenery up there. Here are some more pics.

Thanks for the report. I see you also stopped at the Whitney Hatchery. Isn't that pond full of trout a sight to behold?

Thanks for the comments guys. Forgot to mention every fish we kept had pink meat and taste more like salmon. Gas was 4.27 @ the casino, 4.49 in Mammoth and 4.79 @ June. SoCalGuy7 & pwynn, its good to know there are still 49ers fans. Thought I was the only one left. With their new stadium going up the should be contenders this year.... BUT.... I have been telling people that for a couple years now

Nice fish.Crowely sure has the quality fish going on.
Yup, gas will bust ya, but its not going to stop me.
Try filling up a motorhome---75gal----something like 3 credit card swipes at $95 dollars a pop....ouch!
Still worth every penny....memories my kids will always have.
