Crew: Captain was John W. and the deckhands were Mike and Guss, in the galley was Erin.
Bait for today: Nice mix of anchovies and sardines. There was also live squid and some fresh dead.
When we first stop there was a good calico bass bite. I had a limit within an hour of fishing. The calico were still sluggish and preferred the lead head squid combo over the fin bait. The majority of the passengers were busy filling their sacks with blue perch. I was about to switch over and fish the blue perch until I notice someone had hung a nice fish. The end result was a:

Nice fish Mike!!!
I switch over and focus my efforts towards yellowtail fishing, but was unsuccessful . Mike was the hot stick today and caught some quality fish. A 20lb yellow, a 8 lb sheephead, and a 15 lb ling all in one trip.
The captain than made several drifts for rockfish and the passengers caught salmon groupers and a couple of reds. The rockfishing slows down so John decides to fish for white seabass. It was about eight months ago when I caught my PB seabass on an orange leadhead and squid combo. I tried the same technique and was rewarded. There were five people that hooked up when the school came through. I was one of the lucky five, but my 15lb setup didn't stand a chance because the seabass was hook too close to the kelp. Four out of the five seabass escaped to live another day. One seabass made a mistake and headed towards open water resulting in:

Nice fish sir!!! Sorry didn't get your name.
All in all, it was a good day to be out on the water. I was given a chance at a nice fish and that is all I can ask for. I would like to thank the crew on the Pursuit for a great day of fishing and Capitan John for his hard effort on finding the fish. Mike it was a pleasure to meet and fish with you today. Congrats on winning the JP.
