Liberty 5/26 catalina island white seabass

Went on the LIBERTY'S first trip of the year out of long beach sportfishing. Left Sun. night @ nine. Smooth ride over to catalina 25 passengers and crew. Got up at greylight started fishing the squid grounds were packed with people. no love most of the day saw 10lb halibut and 30lb yellowtail come over the rail but other than a few short calicos it was really slow all day almost circled the whole island. Boat was due back in port at 7pm. but capt Greg Obymako made a judgement call and said we were going to stick it out till dark! between 7:30 pm and 9:00 pm we boated 24 white seabass all in the 25 to 50 lb class. I had a 30lber my friend JT won the jackpot with a 50lb class fish. back at the dock at 1:00 am with smiles on everyones faces. This trip would not have been sucessfull if it wasnt for the skilled captain and crew of the Liberty. The Liberty will be running overnight trips all summer out of Long Beach Sportfishing berth 55.

Great report, glad you the trip ended up working out for you. Captain Greg is an awesome captain who doesn't hesitate to spend extra fuel and time to put his customers on fish.
