5/18/08 Tradition Rigs+the Shoe

Found out last minute from Sammy (best tackle) that there were 2 open spots so Mike and I paid up and joined the charter of the tradition. There were a lot of great anglers on the boat including the charter master Denny of Seeker rods.

The weather today was perfect. So was the fishing. We started off at the rigs where the morning was a little slow. Moved around 3-4 times for some slow but steady pick on the Sand bass. We fished the rigs for the first half of the morning using live squid on leadheads. We also had mixed finbait (but didn't need any of it). By the time we finished the rigs, the whole boat had aprox. 4 bass each and a couple of sculpin. A lot of batrays were hooked at the rigs today. I saw at least 4. Also some guy pulled up a monster BSB up to the boat but it shook off before getting to surface. Looked like a good 50 pounds.

On the Starboard rail it was me, some dude named George, Mike and then Sammy. Dude George threw down a monster live squid that Mike had given him and then Dude landed a friekin' 20 pound HAL.

Around lunchtime we picked up and went to the Shoe where there were 20 other private boaters. We saw the Victory out there, the Matt Walsh and some other familiar faces. The shoe was poppin' off with all kinds of assorted fish. All you had to do was pin on a squid and either on the sink or on the bottom you'd catch a fish. Water topped off at around 65 degrees.

The boat got limits on Sand bass today. My final count was 14 Sand - 8 Skulls - 1 Treefish. I took home 10-5-1. Sammy and Mike had about the same numbers. Great day on the water~!

Bass fishing today was like a breathe of fresh air after rockfishing for the past coupld months.

OMFG that Hali looks so good... Cant say the same for the sandies though. Frankly, if I dont see another Sand Bass until winter I wouldnt be too dissappointed. Sorry to jack your thread K3v but heres my report on vegas...

Got to Vegas @ 8:00 p, went to Sam Woo for Dinner to celebrate my buddy's lil brothers graduation from UNLV. Hit the tables around 10:30. During dinner, I got a txt from K3vin_Kim to double down on the next hand because he had a "feeling". Go back to Orleans after dinner and got dressed and decided to wait for eveyone @ the tables. So my first hand was 16... a promise is a promise. Put another quarter down to double down. Dealer shows 17, and then she flips my double down... bullet. Whew... Push. K3vin you are one lucky MFer. Got into a good roll and walked away well more like dragged away in 30 minutes, up $450. Went to Mandalay Bay to go check out some Eye Candy @ Eye Candy, -$120 for 2 JW Blue Label, -$100 Black jack, -$250 Roullette, - $150 Craps, Seeing my friends lil brother, the graduate getting his mack on and then leaving with some chick instead of the (_)(_) bar... priceless.

Talked to the cabbie to hook us up @ OG's (Olympic Gardens), 10 guys for free. No problem. Get there and notice that OG's is no longer OG... They used to have like 5 stages, now they only have 2, the girls were all cougars... RAWWWR! Drinks were watered down @ $10 a pop. But I still made it rain. Spent waaaaaay too much @ OG's and didnt even get a dance. This place isnt what it used to be.

My Buddy wanted to go to Seamless so talked to another cabbie, 2 sausages for free we asked, they said buy one sausage get one free. Even though buddy wanted to go, I still ended up paying. WTF. Oh well. I hate this place... Let's just say everythings overpriced and you have to pretty much sit on your hands, maybe I shouldve picked the uglier ones... I bet they "work" for their money. Got out around 7am. Walked across the street to MY casino... the big easy, aka Orleans (I know it's a dumpy place but I used to get hooked up here I dont as much anymore since Boyd bought the place). Buddy went to bed, I opted to stay up because I'm a chronic gambler.

Craps was full so swung over to 3 card poker... couple straights but the cards just werent hitting so I moved to Black jack again after losing the requried $200 on 3 card, got a good rythym going playing a dealer 1 on 1. Then it all stopped when this guy jumped on the table. Broke even (I was up 3 bills on this table), so moved over to the quarter table to play one on one, not even 30 mins later, guy jumps on my table again and kills it for me. Aaaargh... hit the ATM and go play $100's? or keep playing with "guy"? Look around... it's Karen on the $100 table, cute girl but a tormentor as a dealer, no thanks I learned my lesson last 3 times I played with her. So now I not only have "guy" to my left but also newbies from Minnesota on my right staying on 16 when the dealer is showing picture. Hay dios mio! Give Minnesota a quick tutorial on the game of blackjack and order a shot of crown for "guy" hoping he'd get too drunk and go away. Neither worked out as planned. Well the last 2 shuffles were brutal, hit black jack with minimum bet only, lost bets with +$100 bets, and the last hand was the final straw... $50 bet and I have a couple 9's split it, another 9... nice, split it again. Deuce... Nice! Double down face up (screw anticipation), bullet... crap!!! next 9... 10. Decent. Next 9, 9 again, splitsville. I had to reach into the wallet for this one. Split it. Picture picture on both 9's, "guy" has a soft 17, I told him to hit, but he wouldnt because dealer has a 6... yeah but you cant bust moron, hell I wouldve doubled. so to recap I have 4 hands on the table, 12, 19, 19, and 19 dealer is showing 6, flip it over she has a soft 17 too... and I already know what the next card is before she flips it. 4... in korean... DEATH! I looked at guy with the look of 4. Everyone loses. Got breakfast comped atleast, since there was no limit I ordered like 6 things... Ham and cheese omelette, steak and eggs, eggs benedict, fresh fruit, extra bacon, and extra hashbrowns, coffee, OJ. Saw one of my friends walking by and told him to sit down and grub. I love vegas for stuff like this. Extravagance even @ a dump like Orleans. With a full belly, went to go check out the poker room. 1-2 holdem was the only open table but I dont like 1-2 because everyone and their mothers play. So played a slot machine while drinking brews. I think it was called Fortune Cookie or something... put $20 cashed out @ $200. Funny machine too... "Oh you like Pu Pu!" (in chinese accent) when you choose Pu pu platter.

Went to Hilton to meet up with my filipino surrogate family, thanks Tito Patch for breakpast. It wasnt very Sarap (delicious)... I think the eggs were powdered. Frankly I think one of th worst buffet's in vegas. But I was so thirsty from the heat that I had 4 cokes and 5 waters. I think I drank more there than I ate.

By now I was tired since I hadnt slept and drunk/hungover at the same time. So I just played slots for a few hours while my room mate was chillin @ the Hard Rock's pool. I noticed one of my coworker's hosts from TI, and we talked for a bit, he told me to get a players card because it gave me $10 free play and 2 buffets after 50 pts. Sure why not, he hooked me up with an extra $50 free play. So I played penny slots on the Wynn's dollar and I got my free buffet and made some money, but not much since it was penny slots. Didnt eat though because I was still full from all those cokes, water, and powdered eggs (trekkies must love powdered eggs because I will never eat there again, I didnt even want to touch the crab legs and I love crab). Left Vegas and fell asleep while I had my chaffeur drive me back, thanks roomie. I told him to get gas and fill it up since I was paying. This is the best part. So we pull up to a Mobil (I'm a 76 man) and I slide my card and went to the bathroom. I had to pee really bad so I open the door (it said vacant) and some chick is standing in front of the bowl with her chonies on the floor, TP in her hand, nalgas (nice and big) hanging out and all I said was... "Oh sh***t". I shouldve just stood there longer. Apparently her man was supposed to watch the door but he was reading a magazine. HAHAHA... She came out and smiled at me but I could tell she was really embarrassed... I shouldve asked her for her #. She was kinda cute too. At the end of the day I ended up losing about $500 which is at this point a winning weekend. so imagine what a losing weekend's like. Sorry no pics because I dont take pics in vegas.

Hey .... what-cha doin' on MY charter boat !? ha ha ha ha K of C uses the Tradition for 98% of it's charters. Love Jimmy Hon !! Jimmy is a fish-getter PERIOD. Fished with Jimmy since his Redondo days !! Tradition is the old Pierpoint ! Repowered not too long ago if memory serves.

Depend on Jimmy having Squid as he's part of the operation !!
