FREELANCE 5-16-08 dad hit the jackpot!! big bones

Well finally got to chase those bones today..we went out of daveys on the freelance and the captin said we were headed to catalina i was like booo such a long boring 2 HOUR! ride..well anywas no more then 3 miles out the harbor he heres other cattle boats have hit big schools of very large bones!! a half a mile ahead! i got antsy so before we even get there deck hand spots em crashing starboard side so we circle deck hand chums first cast buzzzzzzzzz road bent got em on the mega bait jig sardine..nice 8lb but every stop mostly everyone hooked up most snapped cuz the fish were so big....but they didnt stick around long on each stop they would only hit right when we stopped then haul *** chasing bait.Well 3rd stop i hook a nice one and he gets unbutton half way then i see my dad come walking along with a fat toad i knew i knew it would be jackpot and ofcourse it was waying in at 15lb.Nice day great weather i and my dad look like burnt churros!!! haha

WOW! 2 hrs getting to Cat on a cattle boat? Ouch!
Been over 15 years. Dont remember the cattle boat rides being that boring.
Them trips were for Yellowtail at the Channel Islands. Maybe 1hr ride.
Cool the captain found some bones inshore. Giving you an extra 4 hrs fishing time.

Ya man its horrible and all the big bones were coastal no further than 5 miles off the coast and the captain left the hot bite and went to catalina for small not legal calicos...and all the other SMART charters stayed in coastal..
