Got up early Sunday morning and picked up DodgerDoggy for a couple of days of fishing up North. Grabbed some essentials on the way up the 395 and hit Taboose Creek for nada, but it was great to get out of the truck and poke along the stream for a bit. I let DD make the next call of the trip and he suggested IntakeII, I had never fished it so I figured it would be a good first....great call it was wfo. DD was en fuego and c&r over 17 trout. I think I got about half that amount. Note to self leave the 4lb test at home and respool with 2lb test as it seemed to make a HUGE difference.

One of many bendos at IntakeII for DodgerDoggy....crawlers and salmon eggs were the hot ticket

Average size we caught most of the weekend

And another...
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj285/troutdog_photobucket/Intake2fish.jpg

Headed up the hill to check out Sabrina and grab a cup of coffee....water level should be looking better after some of the snow starts melting.
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj285/troutdog_photobucket/Sabrinaview.jpg

Skipped fishing Sabrina as the feedback on fishing was not exactly stellar, so we hit our spot along the creek below

Another view of the spot

I skunked at this spot after missing two fish, DD was able to get four with all c&r
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj285/troutdog_photobucket/Sierratrouttofightanotherday.jpg

With the light fading we did a quick run up to Convict to fish the sundown bite....DD got slammed once, but missed the fish. Winds were 20-30mph with gusts up to 50, reminded me of a few trips to the Vine this season
One of my favorite views in all of the Sierras....Convict is so impressive.
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj285/troutdog_photobucket/ConvictLake.jpg

Went back to Bishop and stayed at a really inexpensive, but very nice motel complete with fish cleaning station, free ice and clean accomodations all for $67 including tax. SCORE! Thnaks for the suggestion Timster and Doctorhook!

Got up the next morning and decided to try Rock Creek Lake, another place I had yet to fish. When we pulled up access was limited and ran into a guy(Brian) that got his rig stuck in the snow....I told him I was in a simialr situation the day before so not to sweat it. Drove back up to the lodge which had yet to open in search of a phone to call AAA, but Mike at Rock Creek hooked him up with some shovels and got him out in no time. Big kudos to Mike as he did not ask for anything in return....very nice kid and I will be sure to be back as a result of his good deed. Rock Creek Lake was beautiful as most of it was still covered with ice!
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj285/troutdog_photobucket/RockCreekLakefromabove2.jpg

Plenty of space to fish with the limited amount of anglers up there on a Monday
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj285/troutdog_photobucket/RockCreekLakefromshore.jpg

Fishing was awesome...DD musta c&r over 20 fish, I think I had about 14 or so....once again fish with 2lb test! Powerworms, crawlers and salmon eggs were working like a charm!

http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj285/troutdog_photobucket/RockCreekLakebow.jpg

Double hookup in the Sierras....gotta love it!
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj285/troutdog_photobucket/RockCreekdbl2.jpg

Towards the end of the day it actually began to snow on us....very cool experience.
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj285/troutdog_photobucket/RockCreeksnow.jpg

Headed back down the hill and passed on a few other options as the wind started kicking up again.....made the last stop at Independence Creek. Another good call as a few of the pools were stuffed with fish, although we were only able to yank a couple out
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj285/troutdog_photobucket/IndybowforTD.jpg

Nice picture DD took of the creek....man was it windy!
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj285/troutdog_photobucket/IndyCreek2.jpg

The 2 day trip went by too fast as usual, but we had a blast. With a trip under our belt we will be that much more prepared for the June trip!

Thanks for reading....

You really crammed in a LOT of great fishing in such a short period of time. Your successes made me smile. And the number of places made me tired. Congratulations and happy Bday.

I was hoping you could post a good example of what "real pictures" should look like Mr Cannon. Maybe even one of you actually holding a fish, that would be really neat.....do you even fish?

Awesome time as always Troutdog! Thanks for letting my lazy a** just send you the pics from my phone and let you make the story again. Someday I should learn how to read and write myself I guess.......but since you do such a good job, I'm not really in a hurry! (Plus when you tell the story, I seem to catch an extra fish or two! lol Nah - that was pretty close I'm sure. Love the days that you just lose track!)

Thanks again for the last minute trip suggestion in the first place! It's awesome to have a friend who is willing and able to "wing it" for last minute stuff like that!.......as that's pretty much how I roll too. (Still love our first trip a decade or so ago when we barely knew each other. "Hey Alan, I get off around midnight......what are you doing tomorrow?" Two hours later we were headed up to Lake Isabella for a couple days! LOLOL Good - no, GREAT times indeed my friend!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

(Oh - it was s'posed to be a secret, but I got Badfish2 to get you a real expensive digital camera on my behalf for your late present! You get it yet?!)

Nice job and nice pics. Picture five is probably my favorite spot to fish there. That whole stretch of stream usually holds a few bigguns. Ive gotten four alpers from that rock. Cant wait to go in august. Thanks for the report.

I appreciate the offer, but funds are not really the issue....I'll be taking the plunge within the week as I have been looking at a couple of different models. Any suggestions Ansel?

Whaddup with the avatar btw....is that the original "Big A" sign the halos have since replaced?

Ansel, I like it:ROFL:

Depends how serious you are about taking pictures. So far, you've been shooting with a camera phone so anything will do. How advanced are you with cameras? Are you more into close up shots? Long range? If you're just starting out.. some of the sony cybershots are good for around $400 and would be a good starting point.

I think close up shots for taking pics of my daughter and of course fishing pics. My only reservation on spending that kinda money is that it is going to be handled with fishy hands(hopefully) and will prolly be getting dirty etc. That is kinda the reason I have just used the cellie. Given that info do you still suggest said camera?

Believe it or not.. yeah, they have a new touch screen camera by sony that has a lense that covers up completely when not in use. It takes great close ups. I used it to take the photos on my silverwood reports. It's about all you'll need for those kind of shots. You can buy the lense cleaning cloths to keep with you on trips .. one wipe and they are clean. I've never had a problem with that camera and i've taken it miles into the wilderness of the sierras. They have cheaper versions of the same camera for low 300s I think that do the same job. ALthough pretty much any digital is going to work.. but for if the difference between a POS and a good camera is only a $100 bucks I would just get the better one.

They have reasonably priced ones here.. http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&categoryId=16200

I personally go with the ones here http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&categoryId=16201 because of their slim design.. easy to carry on trips

No problem man..

They are reliable too.. I've never had a problem with them. Get a carry case from Walmart or what ever.. cheapy one for about 8 bucks .. don't buy theirs.. they are expensive for no reason at all.
