Trying to get some info on the sacramento perch at Crowley. Anybody on this board ever fished for them there? Am wondering about best times to fish for them, as well as good places to look. Any restrictions pertaining to them? Thanks in advance. Mikey

From post regarding the Monday of the opener........Just heard from my friend and he did find the Sacremento Perch on the Monday of the opener, but he couldn't get em to bite. He said he saw hundreds off of Green Banks in 10 feet of water and they were suspended in 5feet of water. He was using mini jigs but didn't have any real small ones. He thinks that was the problem because he saw a fly fisherman getting them on midges.

In May 2006, drifted for perch using white/tan Power Grub in 7-12 feet in Leighton Weeds and Green Banks through the weeds with good success with Cory (FNT). The grubs were tipped with white crappie nibbles. Just cast it out and reel in slowly. The daily limit is 697 (there is no limit)...

the tires in the harbor hold smaller perch under them.

I've caught them in the dead of summer on small mini jigs. I could only get them to bite on white / yellow pattern last time I was there. We caught close to 50 and boy do they cook up good !!!!

adios,

Send a pm to "Fear No Trout". I would classify him as an expert on this particular subject.
