WENT UP THAT HIGHWAY FOR THE WEEK, TUESDAY AFTER WORK WENT UP TO SMITTYS,SAW THE LAKE WAS ICE FREE, BUT NO ONE AT THE LANDING, WENT DOWN TO PARCHERS LOOKING FOR SMITTY, CAUGHT HIM IN THE STORE AND TOLD HIM I WANTED TO RENT A BOAT, HE SAID THE RENTALS WERE CLOSED FOR THE DAY. BUT SMITTY BEING THE COOL GUY THAT HE IS HE HOOKED ME UP WITH A BOAT ON THE HOUSE TWO DAYS IN A ROW, JERED I OWE YOU REAL GOOD NOW, GOT ON THE WATER AND STARTED TROLLING WASNT LONG AND MY POLE WAS NEARLY RIPPED OUT OF MY HAND, I GOT FOUR ON THE WAY TO THE BACK OF THE LAKE, BROWNIESNACTHER DIDNT GET ANY ON THE TROLL. WE GOT PASSED BY A BOAT HAULING TO THE BACK OF THE LAKE TURMNS OUT LATER IT WAS SMITTYS BRO, HIM AND HIS PAL WERE GETTING CRAZY ACTION. WE PARKED NEAR THE INLET AND IT WAS ON, ANYTHING I THRU IN THE WATER WAS HIT HARDLY BEFORE I COULD SET THE ROD DOWN, JOSH WAS TO BUSY DRINKING BEER TO KEEP UP WITH ME, DFG'S ALPERS BROWNS BROOKS AND ALOT OF CROSS BREEDS, IT WAS WIDE OPEN FOR THE THREE HOURS WE FISHED. THE NEXT DAY JOSH WORKED AT HYPER SPEED SO WE COULD BACK UP THE MOUNTAIN,HIT UP SMITTY FOR ANOTHER BOAT AND HE HOOKED ME UP AGAIN, HIT THE WATER AND TROLLED BACK TO THE BACK MOER ACTION FOR ME, THOMAS BOUYANTS THE FIRST DAY RAPALA BROWNTROUTS THE SECOND. GOT TO THE BACK BEACHED THE BOAT AND HIKED TO THE BACK BAY WERE THE CREEKS COME IN TO FIND JUST CREEKS, JOSH WENT DOWN TO ONE TO SEE HUNDREDS OF LITTLE RAINBOWS SWIMMING ALL OVER THE PLACE, TOOK PICS OF THE BACK, THEN HEADED BACK TO THE BOAT, MOVED OVER CLOSE TO THE CREEK WERE IT WAS GOING INTO THE LAKE,THIS TIME IT DIDNT MATTER WHAT YOU THRU INTO THE WATER IT WAS HIT IN A SECOND, THE BROWNS WANTED THE CRAWLERS ON THE BOTTOM, JOSH KEPT GETTING MALE TROUT THAT WERE SPOOGING ALL OVER HIM I WISHED I GOT A PIC OF THAT ,THEY WERE READY TO SPAWN AND THEY WERE VERY HUNGRY, I RAN OUT OF CRAWLERS THE FIRST DAY AND ALMOST THE SECOND, CRAWLERS AND CIRCLE HOOKS WERE THE HOT DEAL. I HAVENT CAUGHT THAT MANY FISH IN A LONG TIME THE BITE WAS FAR BEYOND WIDE OPEN, JOSH WAS FREAKING OUT AT THE FACT THE BAIT OR LURE HIT THE WATER AND IT WAS HIT, I EVEN TRIED EVER THING IN MY TROUT BACK PACK ,EVERY KIND OF BAIT MINI JIG YOU COULD THINK OF SPINNERS SPOONS IT WAS REALLY CRAZY, IF YOU GET A CHANCE YOU SHOULD GOT TO SOUTH LAKE AND PARCHERS IF YOU CAN THE FISHING IS THE BEST THAT A FISHERMAN COULD EVER DREAM OF, THANK YOU AGAIN SMITTY ,YOU WILL SEE ME VERY SOON , I CANT WAIT TO GET BACK UP THERE TROUTONLY

Very Nice there Bob!
Thanks for sharing. Time for a road trip for sure.

It looks very serene up there after the melt off. It's amazing how fast the ice melts sometimes. I see you were using the good old dreaded threaded nightcrawler.
GREAT JOB!
I'm planning a trip up to Saddleback and the Little Lakes basin as soon as my three little ones get out for summer vacation next month 8)

female fisher, i was at south lake, its 22 miles west of bishop in the south fork , parchers is a sponser here on the board, look for there incon or just go to there website, the lake is low but filling up fast, forget about launching private boats for a while, smittys got good rentals, and they are very helpfull with telling people what and where to fish the lake, i wishe i could have taken more pics ,but the fishing was so hot ,i only took pics during the breaks for changing stuff,,,T/O

Of course you don't need to hear how good you are at fishing, you prove it every time. I am going to have to retire early, sell my house and travle the open road looking for Trout.

TO what can I say.... outstanding report and pics. Dang when it comes to all this trout stuff you're one of the guys who inspired me to become a switch hitter.

Up till last year I never caught anything except LMB. Now I'm like all over the place with trout and stuff.... and because of your other great reports about striper on the upper Castaic and all the rest, I am juiced.

I'm gettin' geard up to go for that too!!!

Dude!!! The photos of the Sierra mountains with the snow and all in May and the torut on.......... beautiful... just awesome!!!!

Man that was so cool it made me go turnd down the aircon.

TO you absolutely have a way of outdoing yourself when it comes to these inspiringly beautiful posts.

Good fisning to ya, later......... geobass
