Well I took the day off Wednesday to go out on the Freedom but I got the call Monday the trip got canceled, so what the hell went out on the Pursuit full day to the island 6: am to 6: pm got there at 5: pm and waited for the lucky number ten. Left the dock at 6:00 got some anchovies and headed for the front side of the of the island and hit the kelp line first couple stops nothing. Then the jp halibut came over the rail after a couple more unsuccessful kelp lines for nada, we went deep for rock fish where I broke out the costal crucial setup with my home made jig and got two salmon grouper on it, after a couple more drifts we headed back in. the weather was over cast and could all day 10 degrees below average not good for fishing.

Dwayne, Thanks for the report.
I'm real sorry to hear about the cancelation.
I know how much you were looking forward to the overnighter.
I am gonna feel real bad if you tell me that I was the flaker who would have kept the trip viable?

Great Job on the Jig!!!
That thing looks better than the Lucanus.

Too bad fishing was slow for you, but you have to remember the water temp is still very low and this has a great impact on the fishing. This is my favorite 3/4 fishing boat. It's the only 3/4 day boat that has bunks and fishes Catalina 99 percent of the time. Capitan John W. knows the island better than any other 3/4 boat captain out there. I have caught my pb calico and white seabass on this boat. I even caught yellowfin tuna and dorado during the el-nino year. Soo many great memories from fishing this boat. Man, summer needs to come already!!!
