Just got a new rod ( '7 Kencor ) for jiggin this year (heading up the 18th). And plan on purchasing a new reel tomorrow over at Bass Pro Shop. Any suggestions for a quality, but lower end in price spinning reel?

Have to agree with the Shimano Symetre/Sedona line within your lower end budget. Walk the line of reels there, and you'll feel the difference btwn the others and the Shimano's. I've had my spinning rigs with the Symetre line for 4 years now, as long as you clean and lube your reels they will last.... Good luck

Those are two awesome reels, but for 20 bucks less than the sedona you can get a shimano sienna for 30 bucks. It has a great drag system and reels smoothly.

I still use the DH3500 by Doug Hanon =)

9 bearings, lube port, and it can change spool shape...also can go from salt to freshwater =)
