Decided to take my sons for an afternoon of fun in the surf. Travis and I picked up Brendan from school and was on my way to Dockweiler beach.
Nice weather and as soon as we got there they headed straight for the surf. We had some laughs and fun before getting to the serious fishing tasks :)

We started off by practicing our casting skills. 1/4 oz sinker (no hook) casting into the surf. Once they saw that my friend Carlos was hooking perch and they were not, I started to hear complaints and requests for a hook and lure. So we set up on rod and tossed it into the surf.

Travis was first and within 3 minutes we was on....HOOOOOK UP! :) I made sure the drag was very loose to make sure that he would not over crank it and to make it last a bit longer. He dragged that little guy all the way to the dry sand. He was very happy. :woot:

Brendan was next... once again, within a few casts he was on BENDO on the two foot fishing rod with 4lb test :)

Once the sun went down, we cleaned headed home, but not before stopping by the taco truck for dinner.
Awesome day on the surf with my boys!
