Headed down south of the Boarder Thursday night to celibate BigReds 18th birthday. Got down to Ensanada around nine grubbed on some fish tacos and proceeded to get hammered at the bar. The next morning Farmy, my Dad, Drew, BigRed & I headed to Ensanada's marina. We found a boat that was half decent for $250 so we jumped on. The boat did about 7 mph so it took us a while to get the ten miles to where the rock fish were at. Once we got there it was very slow, the few rockfish we got the sea lion was eating them on the way up. I have never had sea lion problems while fishing rockfish, this was a first. We ended the day with a few reds a few sculpin a few big bonita, some barracuda and one ling. After such slow fishing we decided to head another 2 hours south to San Quintin.
We got down to San Quintin around eight and went to the Old Mill for dinner(thanks for the recomendation Sansu :). Found a captain who had a 28' super panga and worked out a deal to take us out the next day. Saturday we jumped on the boat and headed out the long bay to see whales, sun fish, and dolphins all in the bay. We got out about ten miles and it was just wide open reds from there on. All the fish were quality fish 3-6 lbs. The lings were 10-17 lbs. The water was still a little cold for the yellows and white sea bass, hope that changes when we go back in July. After over 60 reds and a few big lings we headed in early because everyone but me did not want to Kill, Kill, Kill, more fish to put in the freezer. After we got in, we decided not to fish Sunday because we had enouff rockfish so we headed back to Ensanda to get our drink on. Once we got to Ensanada around eight or so we went to the hotel we stayed at the first night and the rooms tripled in price because of the Rosarito to Ensanada bike ride. We said F-that and headed back to good old Cali. Crossed the boarder around one and back in the valley around four. Had a fish fry at my Dads house Sunday. Another great Mexico trip in the books.
