City Girl's Birthday Surf Day!

Today City Girl turned seven years old... I can' t belive it.

What better way to celebrate than to go surf fishing for the first time?

Met up with 57, Wingnut and a crew of our friends. High tide was coming in strong... ended up getting soaked. (I managed to grab a little red-head befor he was swept out to sea:lol:)

Fishing was tough too but, of course, Wingnut thrilled eveyone with a his usual performance

We moved on down toward Pt. Dume where there was more sand to play in and more fish!

Right on man. Look at the smiles on those kids faces! Thats what its all about. Its a good feeling to be out there showin the kids a good time. I need to start gettn my little bros out there more often. WTG:)

Hey Tim!

It was our pleasure meeting up with you and City Girl today!

When I heard that you guys were having a "kids" day out there, I put out the call to one of my favorite kids........ "Nerdchick57" (aka Kaity).......

This was Kaity's first surf fishing trip ever and she represented the TEAM 57 "kids division" perfectly!

We arrived around 7.30am and found Wingnut working the hardbaits about 200 yards north of us.....

City Dad, City Girl and a group of CD's guests rolled in around 8.30 and we all battled a strong incoming tide for the first part of the morning.

It was a bit overcast and on the chilly side and the water was cold. Normal conditions for this time of year, even though we had hoped for a warmer day!

Wingnut was still scoring his normal BIG SIZED fish and posted a couple of BIG BSP's before he finally arrived in the area our group was workin'.....

The tide was very high and really only left a couple of feet of dry beach each time it rolled in. One strong wave caught one of the little ones and rolled him into some shallow water, but CD's awareness kept him out of trouble.... nice save Tim!

Like I said, this was Kaity's first surf fishing trip and she was the first one to score!....

Kaity reeled in a nice BSP and as I fumbled to find my camera, the fish rolled off the hook and into the surf.... :(

Not to worry though... as a few minutes later, Kaity scored a nice (pregnant) Walleye............Kaity safely unhooked her and released her to fight another day!

I really enjoyed this day, as it is truly a pleasure to see the smiles on all the kids faces when they score a fish and these are without a doubt, the best days I spend on the water. Im proud of you Kaity!

Happy Birthday City Girl!!! Quite a nice jump from Lake Balboa Tilapia to Surf Perch! :mrgreen: Thanks for the invite Dana & Tim, always nice to fish with you guys. Nice to meet you Kaity. What a trooper, getting right into the surf without waders... and it was COLD today! :shock: Congrats to City Girl & Kaity on your first of many surf fish. :thumb:

The conditions were a little harsh with the strong incoming surge. It was overcast & cold but I had my new Official Team 57 hoodie to keep me nice & warm, thanks DANA! It was fun modeling it for you... "I'm... too sexy for my Perch..." :lol:

Caught a little 12" Hali and six brute sized BSPs today, the biggest around 14 inches. They must like the overcast weather and the new LC patterns that I was experimenting with. ;)

It was a fun day hanging out with my friends. :D

Also true! I tried it in shorts and I didn't start feeling my feet again until we were in Aguora Hills.

Again, a great day for us. City Girl and I are already planning our strategy of for next time.
