Went fishing with Jason and Evan to hit up some halibut spots in Malibu that Jason has done well at sometimes. Jason doesn't usually like to drive up that way after work due to traffic but it was the right call. It turned out to be a pretty good fish session.

Started fishing around 6p. Not much going on with the low tide at 630p. We managed a few perch. Around 7p, the bite picked up.

Evan got on board first with a dink flattie caught on the grub. At least we knew they were there.

Evan switched out to the grumpy rig and picked up a nice 21.999999" halibut. Fish ate the grub, not the swimbait.

Jason decided to try an LC that hemicuda gave me at a Fish Off. He still refuses to spend that much on a lure to fish the surf.

Sure enough Jason hooks a nice 15" BSP. Pretty funny actually.

Nice pig.

Jason usually doesn't like to pick up the pregnant momma perch but this one had spawned out already so he had to take the hand photo.

Jason then hooked a nice 12-13" momma that was very pregnant. No need for a picture. Back in the water she went.

After that the halibut bite took off. Jason landed two smaller fish back to back.

One of his little fish.

Then I gets into the action on the Kroc and pulls in a nice 24" eater.

Then we hear Evan yelling Hook Up down the beach.

Bendo.

I ended the night with a nice YFC.

We ended the night with 7 halibut landed in 30 minutes when the bite started and probably 3 or 4 missed fish.

Good time with good friends.

Till next tide,
