I have been thinking that i want to do some night time float tubing. I have a head lamp. Do i need running lights or any other lights on my tube?

Might not hurt to have a whistle out there at night.
Just in case a boat without radar or a captain is not paying attention.
You could make a whole lot of noise if someone starts getting to close.

I would put a glow stick or 2 on just in case.

Maybe some reflective tape around the tube. At night you definitely want to be seen by the private boaters instead of them bumping into you and they are going "WTF????"

When I did some float tubing many years ago, I remember having a flashing light was necessary to fish at night. Maybe regulations changed but that was the requirement about 10 years ago.

Couldn't hurt to strap on one of those blinking strobe light's too for better visibility.

If it was me out there I would have everything, the reflective tape, the glow sticks, head lamp, and the blinking strobe light. I may look like an idiot or something but at least they will see me and that's what's going to count.

Some nights its so black out there.
Not enough light to shine off the tape.
Good idea still

There's really not a whole lot of boat traffic at night and you will most likely be fishing docks. Therefore, a headlamp and a couple of glowsticks is sufficient. Good luck and let us know how you do!
