Been a couple weeks since I've been out to do some surf fishing with that recent wave of local LMB's. Almost forgot what the machine gun nibble of a perch felt like!
Got out to HB early and tried the BCWR before the sun came up. Watched a couple dudes bring in some fish, which I find out later was Mike the PMB and his buddy slayin'! (props!)
5:58am rolls around so I jump back in the car and head over to BCSB.
Used the poppy pass for entry and rolled on in..
Quite a few other people showed up to fish as well!
Bumped in to a number of FNN members who I got to meet for the first time, and received a few surf tips from Bill Varney that were very interesting to learn.

Stepped out to the surf for a minute to watch Wingnut bombard the shoreline looking for a flattie. If there was one out there, he would have found it! I decided to get straight to perchin' and put the casting equipment back in the car. First couple of casts and I find out my swivel is filled with sand and no longer working. I basically lost a spool of line right away and had to go back to the car to respool, which took a good 20 minutes.
Eventually got back out to the surf.
Saw NewbeFisher and CoffeaRobusta out there catchin' perch left and right. Was talkin' to CD for a minute and brought in a big ol funny lookin' hermit crab who tried to eat my sand crab.
It took me a while but I finally got a 11-12" football pregnant perch who popped out some babies right after the photos. The next wave came as I was releasing the fish and washed the babies to sea before I could photograph them. A nearby surfer was amazed I actually caught something, and even more freaked out when it gave birth to live offspring before his eyes

Went back over to talk to NF about moving to the Jetty, as he was pulling in a couple more perch himself on a sweet new telescoping rod combo.

Back at the car I found out a few others were moving to the jetty.
We got down there and the perch were biting pretty consistently. They came in the form of Walleye, BSP and Buttermouth! All pregnant! I myslef landed several WSP and a couple more BSP on paddle tail grubs, sand crabs and lug worms, but "forgot" to try my mussels. I Would highly recommend those neato little paddletails for perchin'. They work much better than my Kalin's curl tails.

Then Blackwater and Bill Varney rolled up to the Jetty! That's when the bite really opened up. Blackwater caught this dinner plate sized BM that looked pregnant!

CR was on the perch left and right! Look at the belly on that WSP.

Last BSP of the day. Right when I hooked this fish, CR caught his buttermouth. I fought this fish on my line while running down to land CR's BM so it didn't bust off on the rocks! It was a cool double hook up, among many double and triple hookups throughout the hour.

Had a good day and caught a couple of fat perch that fought pretty nice. Learned lots of new stuff, got to hit a good spot with some good people, and made a few new friends. The hermit crab came up on the hook/bait so I'll take that as a new species:lol: Missed one good bite on the sand crabs fishin' them very slow in a nice slow current from the jetty. Went back to BCWR with CR for 20mins or so but no love on the hali's. Decided to call it early to try and skip some of the traffic and headed home about 1:30pm.
Hope you enjoyed the pics. I had a blast! Nice to meet you guys, hope to do it again sometime!
