I see all these awesome surf reports for LA beaches, however if lets say a Bastard were to go out on a Thursday somewhere in the Newport/HB area what beach would be great to throw a couple spoons at? I have no gear specifically for surf fishing but I figure if it is on a weekday I really wont be laughed at by too many passers-by.

As importantly are there beaches that you cannot fish at?

Of course I would love to get a Hali so if there are any places that havent produced one in over 20 years feel free to let me know that too.

Thanks

Ditch the dinosaur revolver. Dirty Harry is for the movies. Then get a skeletonized hammer and trigger for that 1911. Add a nice hogue rubber grip with the finger grooves. If you want to floss get some highly checkered coco bolo wood grips. But for sure parkerize that stainless steel or hard chrome finish, I can't tell which finish you have. Real combat demands stealth not flash. What the **** happened to your rear sight?????? Get some Bo Mar sights or low profile Novak. Please tell me you have a full length tungsten guide rod and upgraded wolf springs? A match grade barrel if you haven't already installed one. Get a trigger job and take away that creep. For what you are doing with it I would NOT suggest a very light trigger pull as you DON'T seem to practice GUN SAFETY. Make sure that gun is thoroughly wiped down with some oil and a silicone cloth and be careful those teeth can damage your crown and hinder your accuracy. Better yet just get yourself a Glock and be done with it. And above all else remember to never hit your assailant with more than 3 shots. You will NOT be able to claim self defense otherwise. As far as where to work the surf. Newport has a lot of fish. Ghost Shrimp is readily available at most tackle shops near the coast. You can also just harvest your own. I prefer to use shrimp flies and jig for live smelt. You can chum with some bread to bring them close to you. If you can get them. Vietnamese nuclear worms also work great. You can also go to some rocks or a pier and get some fresh mussels or small rock crabs. I try to work the incoming high tide so do your homework and check out the tidal charts.
