Don't be scared i was scared my first time on the big pond but when your with your friends its a lot of fun.The stuff you got to worry about down hear are other boats, rocks, some times male sealions and hooping not to many shark attacks on the yaks down hear unless you hook one and you do something stupid. Its a lot of fun to pull up to a kelp stringer and tie of and throw out your plastics or make bait with your Sabiki rig and slow troll the beach with a Carolina rigged smelt for halis.

Wow, it goes to show you not to believe everything you see any more these days. It sure looked real. The threat is still real though. I was wondering how that kayaker resurfaced after getting slammed like that.
Now that I think about it more, his back would have probably snapped in half with all that weight falling on him.

Rocklee, I am going to use up the 80 rolls of film I have this summer, before I buy a water proof digital camera. There were a couple of models that looked like they would work well for what I had in mind.

I'm going kayaking - fishing - camping in May with a group of people. One of which escorted a group of swimmers from the mainland to Catalina in February. They encountered several whales that swam right underneath them and within a few feet of them. I can't figure out what I did with the link for the photos of the trip. I can find out if you want it.

There's guy who puts on kayak whale watch outings on Saturdays, out of San Diego, (for free) during Janurary and February. I can hook you up with him if you really want to get up close to one of those monster-size critters.

I think I'll stick to lakes, and the bears, and mountain lions....and the agressive sea lions in the bay...
