I bet he got a kick out of watching you land that thing.
Too bad it wasn't on a swimmy.:(

So, is that bass now residing in one of the ponds at SLO?

Next time, make sure it's preggers, a'ight?

Looks like lack of forage. If it was late Spring, you could cough it up to the fish being spawned out.

It sucks when lakes are maintained biologically. A lot of individuals think they can stock some fish and 5 years later, their body of water will be a magical place.

That fish reminds me of the Barrett Lake "Snakefish" Bass of 5 or 6 years ago. What a difference a huge stocking of threadfin shad does to a lake's ecosystem.

I've caught a bass like that at Jenks.
Giant head, skinny body.

What lake is that? I grew up in slo, and have fished the poly ponds, etc. Looks like bishop or the mountain next to it in the background. Private or could I fish it?

That's gotta be Bishop or Hollister peak in the background. Looks like what we use to call "1st lake" or maybe it's "2nd lake"? Is there another pond just up the hill or just down the hill from this one?

looks like bishop to me. i think it is because i can see that yellow house/ranch thing from my run everyday

If it is Bishop, he is fishing either "1st" or "2nd" lake. Not sure why they call them lakes, cuz these are TINY ponds. Fished them when I was teenager. LMB in both.

nice bass there regardless of the body girth..
Definately relative to a poor food chain but that usually translates to quick action as those hungry suckas are ready to pounce on anything as they battle within the food chain.

If you fish there often, it may be worthwhile to try to introduce some crawdads or something to beef up the foodchain, but that may take a few attempts to make it stick but could be benificial in the longrun..

Food for thought.

Congrats ! nice fish
