Thanks Chris.

I took a couple of other photos of Lake Mamie that I think were prettier, but they only wanted to use horizontal formats.

They really edited and condensed the article from its original content.

Mammoth Mtn has a 11' base at the 9000 foot level and June Mtn is reporting a base of 7 to 9 feet.

Do you think the campgrounds will be open before the beginning of July in Mammoth Lakes?

I haven't been back to Mammoth since 1978.

I miss it a lot. Maybe this will be the year that I get to go back?

Thanks SKY,

Why don't you organize a camping/fishing outing to Mammoth Lakes ?

Surely, you'd be able to find someone to hitch a ride with.

SKY, I am in the process of doing just that.

You think I might need a snowshoe this time of year?

I don't know whether you're being funny or serious... Nor can I imagine you walking around on a snowshoe, with a walking stick, and on ice.... or snow for that matter.

You trying to break your One_Leg?

I put togther a trip for you One_Leg to see how much it would cost for you to go to Mammoths Lakes for 4 days, three nights with a group of 7 to 10 people.

VAN RENTAL http://www.avonrents.com/vehicle140.html (http://www.avonrents.com/vehicle140.html)

Contact Information http://www.avonrents.com/santamonica.html (http://www.avonrents.com/santamonica.html)

Split the cost with 10 people. The van holds 15 people but you’ll need the room for tents camping gear and fishing gear – coolers. Leave at 7:00 a.m on a Thursday so you can get there by 2:00 and find a camp spot. Camp spots are on a first-come, first-serve basis. If you arrive on a Friday you may not find a camping spot. There’s a great spot to camp right by the marina, near the restroom. Lake Mary campground often does not open until the end of June because of the snow. I would book the trip right after the 4th of July hoilday. You can walk down to the shore from the camp spots right around the corner to the left of the marina.

**** Make Sure you get insurance and check to see if the insurance covers damage done by a bear, especially if you are going to be keeping the fish, in the van in the coolers.

Van Rental Cost ??? Call to find out 310 392-8618 I am going to guess its about $120.00 a day. ***Check to see if they charge extra for the mileage. $120.00 times 4 days rental $480.00 plus tax Figure $550.00 divided by 10 people comes to $55.00 each

GAS COST: Santa Monica to Mammoth Lakes: 330 miles each way – 6.5 hours driving from Los Angeles. Figure 730 miles incase you drive around @ 20 miles to a gallon at $4.00 a gallon $150.00 in gas divided by 10 people, comes to $15.00 dollars a person.

Campground Information

http://www.cityconcierge.com/mammoth-lakes/summer/campgrounds-mammoth.asp (http://www.cityconcierge.com/mammoth-lakes/summer/campgrounds-mammoth.asp)

Camp at Lake Mary $14.00 a night 48 spaces flush toilets and running water – no showers but you can clean up in the bathroom sink or there are hot showers at the Lake Mary Marina – pay with quarters.

or Twin Lakes $7.00 a night $7.00 flush toilets and running water.

Book three campsites for 10 people.

Stay Thursday Friday and Saturday night comes to $42.00 a night, times three nights divided by 10 people comes to $12.60 each

Drive home on Sunday.

Total Costs:

Van rental $55.00 each (10 people)
Gas $15.00 each each (10 people)
Campground $ 12.60 each (10 people)

Roughly $85.00 for 4 days three nights. For 10 people Plus food and bait.

$120.00 for seven people.

I personally would go with 7 people so you would have more space in the van for your gear and coolers.

They sell bait at the Lake Mary and Twin Lakes Marina.

Photo of Van Rental - Lake Mary Campground spot right by water, marina and restrooms where I always stay.
