My bro and I headed down to the coast on Saturday to try out some new metal I picked up. A few spoons and a giant spinner. Was quite pleased with the action of everything, but the Kastmaster won out by shear castability. Worked from the Wedge to the pier. Caught a couple perch on the 3/4 chrome Kastmaster, and a tiny halibut on a GCSW. The action was pretty slow on that stretch on sand. Also threw a few other lures for nada. My brother got the skunk yet again. He's been having a pretty bad skunk streak after catching that 6 pound LMB, he he. Anyways, here's a couple of pics:

Like my fingers in the shot?...

This fish was pretty optimistic. The Kastmaster probably weighed almost as much as him, lol...

And my personal worst halibut:

Still beats sitting at home, he he. Tight lines.

The Halibut looks more like a turbot to me.

Good work on the lure perch! Feels good ey? You're steadily retrieving then all the sudden SMACK! ZZzzzzZzzzzzzzzzzzt! Looks like a hali to me but what do I know. I think the turbots are more one color tone. Hali's have those big black and white spots all over them.

That's no Hali! It's one of those mini blueberry pancakes that you get at IHOP.
You're right Skyler... beats sitting at home.

Thanks, guys. I was amazed they'd attack something so big and menacing, lol. As for a steady retrieve, I wish. to keep that kastmaster in the zone and wobbling properly in those powerful waves, I had to vary my retrieve speed like ten times per retrieve, lol. They sure hit it harder than the GCSW though. The big one straight slammed that iron! Fun stuff.

Yeah I guess you're right on that one.
The Krocs and Kasty's are funny to work in the surf. They'll sit fluttering on top if you aren't paying attention then go slack line the next second.

Those cripp herrings should be a bit better at staying in the zone, like the megabait live jig thingies.
