i finally got back up to bishop to do some fishing between and and my friend mike.... we had a four day weekend last week so me, him, and my parents headed up Thursday night.
Friday we decided to fish the lower owens all day b/c we heard they were stocking it today with either dfg fish or alpers....

^we fished around laws bridge for about 30 minutes.... it was completely dead
Headed down to east line

^we fished this one hole i know. Mike caught one here.... it looked like a stocker thats been in the river for a while.
After waiting around for a while for a stock truck to show up we figured we should try collins road b/c it would be one of the first to be stocked if the fish were coming from one of the southern hatcheries
we found no stockers but i did pick up this really nice brown on a nightcrawler

^i ususally fill up an ice chest and use it as a "holding tank" for my fish until i unhook/photograph the fish so they are always in water.
Afterward we hit up Warm Springs road to find nothing.... what gives? last winter i would pull trout out of this river from right and left.
Saturday, we figured to give PVR a try... this is my favorite winter fishing spot. We fished the first curve of the lake after the inlet. Action was slow and inconsistant, even though i heard rumors that alpers had stocked the day prior. i ended up with 3 stocker size bows all caught on inflated crawlers. Mike got skunked=].

^this lil guy swallowed it.
Sunday- I wanted to try the stretch of river above the reservoir... we didnt get to fish for long b/c we had to go back to do some buisness in bishop but me and mike caught one rainbow each out of the powerplant hole. One on Salmon eggs and one on a powerworm.

Later that afternoon we hit up east line again. I caught one a few holes above the bridge then we took the dirt road down.

^where we spotted these guys (i dont know why the picture quality sucks)
We went down quite a bit, found a hole hiked upstream and found one fish willing to play along.

^I let him go.
Both fish were caught on drifted 'crawlers.
Monday- On our way back home we stopped at Stewards lane below big pine b/c i've never fished here before. But it was DEAD. Not even a nibble. anyone ever do good here?
We did try the stretch right below tinnemaha. It was crowded but to my surprise pple were catching fish and i caught this guy which weighed a healthy pound.

I also ran into a DFG warden checking licenses, i asked him whats been up with the river and why it hasnt been stocked or why its showing no evidence of a stock. He said the dfg doesnt stock during the off season. Is that true? are all the fish i caught holdovers from open season? b/c last year i recall hearing the river and reservoir are stocked every other week by the dfg and alpers. He also told me alpers hasnt been stocking much b/c the city of Bishop wasnt coughing up enough money. Is this all true? it makes sense to me figuring i only caught 7 fish the whole trip comparing to last year which i averaged 10 fish a day. Things just arent how they used to be=[.
