I never entered the Derby but Diaz was always our preferred spot for base camp on Memorial day.We started going there in "82 and went every year until 2003 when we moved here to TX. I've seen some big holdovers come out of Diaz. There's also some BIG carp in there and cats and LMB. And I've caught and released a lot of wild trout from the feeder creek at the south end of the tent camp area when they have let water out of the aqueduct to fill the lake. The wild ones came down out of the "duct.
Too bad they took out the concession a few years back, it was a handy little store and cafe.

I'll be there, went two years ago had a great time.Definatly an early day up at 2:30am. I"ll be in the bayliner.

Turned out to be a great day. Cold in the morning but warmed up. Caught five rainbows one on power worms and the rest on rapala's. The biggest was 2.48lbs. My son took 2nd place in his division with it.

thats good. im up here in bishop, my dad caught a 4.2 lb'er today on the river. did anyone get the $800. fish?
