I am thinking about buying some stuff to put on my toon, and I wanted to hear from you guys. I was looking into getting http://store.humminbird.com/sonar/fishin-buddy/110-fishin-buddy/prod407110-1.html for a fish finder. I don't wanna go crazy on it, but I think it is nice because of the mount. Do you guys have any other reccomendations for under $100?

As for a trolling motor setup, I will buy this http://www.creekcompany.com/indivdisplay.php?primaryAutoID=72&Cat=3&Cat1=10 for the setup.
And as for a trolling motor and battery, I am clueless as far as what to buy. Any help would be appreciated.

Allright Steve, going for the power setup dawg. I love the fact your using the Creek Co mount for a couple of reasons. As far as your motor you need to consider if you will use it in saltwater. I didn't do this and I wish I had. Saltwater motors cost a little more. Your boat doesn't need a lot of thrust and Creek Co recommends no more than 36 lbs and believe me thats plenty. I have a 36 lb thrust Minn Kota Endura and it moves my boat out well. Your boat is smaller and lighter than mine so you can probably do just as well with a 30 lb thrust motor. 36 would be allright on your toon as well but the smaller motor requires a smaller battery and the weight difference is a good thing. Just be sure to check the motor requirements before you by the battery. My motor uses 105 amps per hour so I bought a battery that puts out 115 amps per hour. If you buy a battery a little above the requirement it will run your motor a really long time. I have towed two other toons tied to mine ALL DAY and did not drain my battery dead. Believe me, that's nice to know if you want to fish a long way from the launch site. If your feeling like spending a little more for the good stuff PM Z-Tunakiller and ask him about his power setup, it's an awesome saltwater setup. Good luck with it dawg and tell us how it went when you pull the trigger.

Nah, I won't use it in saltwater. I don't do much saltwater fishing, and when I do, it's usually surf fishing.
I am looking at this motor. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_1192_200002001_200000000_200002000_200-2-1

As for a battery, what should I go with under $100?

Well, it seems like everyone is recommending the Optima battery, so it looks like I'm gonna have to save up.

One other thing.
I take it I will need to buy a battery charger. What kind is good?
And, will I need to put the battery in a closed box to shelter it from water?

hey now, steve i put my batts in a toolbox, that way i have storage for other stuff, i got a 12v. charger from pep boys, they have batt box there also and i think using a batt box is a good idea.

I absolutley agree with the Z, a battery box ia must for protecting the battery and straping it down to your deck. I've got an everstart battery from Wallmart and it works well but it weighs a ton. Would much rather have the styling blue top Optima.

Then a battery box or tool box.
Well, now I know what to get.
Thanks Ron and Thanks Z!

Keep in mind, that when you power that Pontoon, it has to be registered and a CF number put on it.... :(

That will be the very first thing I do once I have everything together.
