Going out to Pismo area friday

Any suggestions/advice on pier or surf fishing there? Can i catch anything edible?

never do much of either but i wil have some time to waste and want to try my luck. The other option is lopez lake but if i could i would like to bring home something to eat from the ocean.

yeah you can catch perch and what not from the pier. probably won't catch much, pismo is a flat and structureless beach. the entire length of the pier is a shallow surf zone. i wont say try your luck in avila or port san luis and if you feel like going a bit farther, cayucos.

Pismo is a waste of fishing time. Go to Avila Pier or Port San Luis Pier like Rusty6 says! Find some mussels some where and use them for the perch. You can find clusters at the base of Port San Luis pier.

by the way...would 6lb test be good for perch fishing?

and besides mussels, what other baits? any artificials i could use?
