Hello Ladies and Gents, it has been awhile since I have made a post around here. I pop my head in occasionally to see what's going on and I figured with the new year upon us I would share with you guys a little on how my 07' fishing up here in Washington went. I ended up catching some decent bass after switching up my techniques, baits and presentations. It is a lot different than SoCal bassn for sure. My biggest went 4.4lb LMB and 2.6lb SMB. Some trout here and there, a couple of panfish but the most exciting thing I did was to land my first Musky! A Tiger Muskie! "The fish of a 1000 casts" And I can attest to that. It took me all day throwing big baits just to be followed twice by monsters right at the boat and finally to end up landing one. It is small (in comparasion to most) but still a ton of fun. This year I plan on focusing on big bass and getting back to throwing big baits. Swimbaits, 12' plastic worms and 1/2oz. jigs with beefy trailers. I got talked out of it last year by people up here telling me to go small and use less obnoxious baits. That of coarse I have collected over the years living down there. But my thought has always been, bass will be bass no matter where you go. Well, I have met some big bass hunters up here and they tag monsters (WA big bass are anything over 3lbs. the state record is 11.5lbs.) on swimbaits and big jigs quite frequently. Seen a 7.7lb and 8lb caught and heard of a couple 10lbers. So this year for me is the "year of the big bass". Wish me luck in my quest to break the state record. Hope you guys enjoy. It will be good to hear from some of you OG's from back in the day.

Sweet looking fish. Still bigger than my PB down here LOL!!!! MAke sure you try some steelhead fishing, then report back here sir.

Where are you at in Wa? I posted a report in Outa state back in June of 07. I have fam there, so I love reading Wa. reports.

GREAT luck on breaking the record, I'm sure an FNN'er of your stature can do it, and report back often in your quest.....

Thanks man. And no that is not my place. I wish. Plus that is a seaplane. It's on Lake Washington and there are a ton of places like that. Bill Gates and the like have houses on LK WA that would blow your mind. Actually, Gates's dock is a pretty good SMB spot.

Thanks Greg. I miss the whole FNN family. I did find an awesome site and forum up here called http://www.washingtonlakes.com . It's the most comprehensive fishing site in Washington. Check it out. We have a couple of guys from Cali who post there.
I haven't had the chance to hit up steelheadn yet but I plan on it soon. I live in Poulsbo on the Kitsap Peninsula. Where do go when you stay up here?

Nice fish, dude!

I grew up on the dry side (Okanongan? You heard of it? :secret: ) The muskies are new since I lived up there.

Was gonna ask if you had taken to the local custom of wearing socks with your Berkenstocks... but I see that you are a slides kind of guy.

If you ever find yourself in the East, you could do worse than spend a day at Potholes...

 City Dad, your funny man. You like that. I didn't even realize I was stooping to that level. Thanks for setting me straight on the socks/sandlas thing.
I have a couple buddies who fish Potholes Tournaments and they tell me it's a great fishery. Some say it has the potential to spit out a state record bass. I will fish it someday. But right know my efferts are concentrated on the westside of the state because I believe there are a few ponds around this area with the potential for monster bass. I have one in particular, that I know has a 10lber in it and I'm hoping during spawn she beefs up over 11.6lbs and I tag her. We shall see.

rainbow, the Muskies around here are Tiger Muskies. They are sterile and put in a couple of lakes around the state to help the fishery out. They have done incredible things to Tapps and Mayfield. Plus, they are kick to catch. Here is a picture of my buddy Ken with a 19lb 43in. Tiger Musky the sameday I caught my first musky. He is a true Musky Hunter. He has caught over a dozen this size or greater.
