Not going to get a 10 amp onboard charger for 100.00 but if I was you I would get a BPS brand for the $$ you want to spend its your best bet

You can parallel connect them.
Pos to pos, neg to neg.

I think thats what I would want to do.
Two batterys with a selector switch between the two batterys. That way you would have a choice, Kill both batterys at the same time, Then row back to port/ramp  Trolling motor will still run longer then a single battery. :D
Set the selector switch for one battery, Then when that one battery gets low, switch to the second battery or both. Then start heading back to port/ramp
My boat has three batterys. I save one for starting. Use the other two for running all electronics for up to four days at sea 8)

All the deep cycle marine batterys ive seen have a lot of cranking amps.
With a switch, you could use one for starting, the second one for trolling. Adding a third battery would be xlint for two trolling and one starting battery.
Could always keep the two batterys you have. Then buy a jumper pack if you accidently kill both batterys. Nice to have in a emergency, or helping other boaters out.

Not sure if you bought that 1 on Ebay, but here is my recommendation, and how I have my boat set up. Works great for me!

I purchased this at Bass Pro Shops at their grand opening for $99 bucks on sale from $150.00! It rides permanently mounted in the transome of my boat and is completely sealed and waterproof. It has the capability to simultaneously charge up to 3 batteries at once. There are different models that charge 1,2, & 3 batts at once. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_74190_200003004_200000000_200003000_200-3-4
You can get the model 5/5 for 89.00.

You just plug it in when u get home and leave it, or plug it in a day b4 u go fishing and the smart charger does it all. It send xtra juice to the lower battery so as to bring them both to full charge together! Cool feature!

I also have a 2 battery switch, but switch to both when charging.

Good luck.

Greg

thanks greg, and no i didn't buy that one. i am still looking. been looking at the reviews for them on basspro shop and cabellas, and dont like the minn kota or BPS models. heard they have a shorter life span. hope yours last longer than the average. promariner is looking good though.

are you suppose to charge the battery on a boat after every time you go out? The motor doesnt recharge it when you are driving like a car?

OOOOKEEDOKIE then,

Inboards
Inboard/Outboard/Sterndive
Jetdrive

These engines are like your V8, V6, Straight 6 or 4 cylinder car engines gas or diesel. They are mounted in the rear of the boat on Inboard/Outboards. Inboards with a straight shaft are mounted more forward in the hull.

Outboards
Are them ugly things sticking off the back of some boats that take a rocket scientist to work on to keep em running, or tuned up.

Hope that helps.

Do outboards charge the battery while running?

they charge the starting battery.
the trolling battery is different and needs to be charged by a charger after use.
