I finally got to get out this year. Loaded up my Revo and headed to Marina Del Rey. Got there around noon. Was all pumped up to finally try outside the marina. However, it was so da*n foggy, I was scared to try. I hung around the marina trolling a green/yellow krocodile jig between the bait barge and the Coast Guard/Sheriff dock. Caught 5 short barries. Not too great but it was awesome to finally get out.

Also, I got a Canon digital camera and the waterproof housing from ebay so I can now post some pics. Not the best, operator error, but it's more fish porn. I'm hoping to go out again Sunday with my brother-in-law. Hopefully it'll be clear.

Here's a sea dog waiting for my next catch.

Action shot of a cuda. I've got to reel in, take a quick pic, then release before the sea dogs get 'em!

Check out the fog. It was hard for me to see big boats so I figured I was invisible to them.

I've been there four times and haven't seen any float tubers in Marina Del Rey. But I've seen posts on other sites of guys in float tubes fishing other harbors (i.e. Dana Point, Long Beach, and others). I know you're not allowed in King Harbor.

Good going there npdes. I've fished that bait barge few times. I've seen legal halis and bass come up from that area. And scooters are always fun to catch.

Also I've fished on NDM twilights and brought back and released quite a few sand bass inside the harbor.

I got a kayak recently and was hoping to hit up MDR ever since. I just need to install the rod holders and FF. Hopefully I can get most of it done tomorrow.

If you dont mind some company I would like to join you either this weekend or maybe next.

Sure, the more the merrier. I'm not sure what time we might get to MDR on Sunday but I'll PM you. Good luck rigging your yak. It's pretty easy. I'm addicted to this yak fishing.

BTW, where did you launch from?
I've seen some kayakers launch from dock 52 since the parking is free. Not sure if its ok though.
Definately looking forward to meeting and fishing with you soon.

I launched from the boat launch parking lot. It's $5 for all day parking. I think it's worth it because he launch ramp is easy. Here's a link to the website....

you can drop you kayak off at the Coats Guard parking lot and then drive your ride back to the restaurant parking, it's $8 all day, as opposed to $10 parking all day at the boat launch. It's a long paddle from the boat launch to the outside rockwall, you save yourself a little time lowering yourself down the rocks at the Coast Guard place.

Float tubers do well there, I've even seen a few launch at the beach and paddle out to fish the inside of the rockwall. There's plenty of halibut inside, a few spotties here and there. If you want any real success you have to fish the oustide rocks which can be difficult depending on the swell. Even on the slowest days there's a few to be caught out there..
