Latley I've been trying my luck at surf fishing for some halibut, but haven't gotten one yet. I'm putting this post up to see if anyone could suggest any spots where I might be able to catch one of these fish. Also any tips on tackle, lures, bait etc...I've been using smelt on one pole and throwing swim baits with the other. Thanks in advance for reading and sharing any tips.

Do a search on the old board. Lots of useful information
there that will help you in your quest. Good luck!

Well I guess I get to be the first to say it. Welcome to the FNN, buttface.
I hear that all the Butts in the Bolsa Chica inlet are dinks.
Might want to avoid there!!!!

When i go for halibuts, i like to use mackerel(pieces), anchovies, and some squid. I caught mine on squid at the redondo beach pier a few months back. 26 inches. For lures, i heard krocodile spoons were the best. Good Luck!!!!!
