While we usually are set on hooking up the big one some times when we get them up we are not satisfied with what is on the other end of the line.
Although setting a new personnel best is our goal every time you can't help but enjoy those agressive little guys that are able to get a meal before big brother.
In light of the Bat Weight challenge that is going on and causing a stir on this page.
Here is what i propose.
This post is open to all who want to bust my bubble and post a smaller of each species I have posted or other species that they have caught!!!!!!!!!!!!
So here we go! All were caught in Newport Harbor and CPR'd

Ha ha!!
I find the mini bat ray very cool....I've never seen one that small (not implying I only bump into huge ones!).

In reading about them I believe it may have been his first meal and photo!
:offtopic: I don't believe you that there are big bats down your way. You need to prove it with photo and scale!!!!!!!!!!!!
Legacy1:
Definetly a very small bass there. I / we have a smaller but can't find the photo so we can't go there with no proof.

I don't care where it comes from as all water flows to thee ocean unless man sucks it into the pipe to drink like they do here in the Arroyo Seco Creek above the ROSE BOWL where I live and there are natives here also!! Got to love the little guys at a couple inches that go feet into the air!!
Jeff4231:
Thx for the post. Hard to tell what kind is #1 and #3 is not familiar to me either.

I don't think so, you must be a freshwater guy, because that is not a sculpin.
I think someone had a photo of one of these that was caught in one of the local harbors a little while back and was ID'd as a baby Lingcod.
