View Full Version : Coronado bay, 12/30 (pics)....

Was down in San diego for the weekend to visit some friends, and my brother and I decided to hit a couple small piers in the bay. Hit the t-pier by the convention center, and then headed across the bridge and hit the ferry landing. Only fished for a few hours, and caught a total of 6 fish between three people. I caught a mack, two jack smelt, and a sand dab, my brother caught a mack, and my friend Jeff caught a small stingray. All fish were caught on freshwater tackle. Here are a few pics. Enjoy...

Indeed. But damn can they fight hard! He folded my medium ugly stick in half, lol!

Looks like you had fun. The 1st pic is not a sand dab, but a 'very' short halibut. Hope it was released.

I know! Them things are small but they do put on hell of a fight!

Yeah, he was released, as was the stingray. The mackeral and smelt were kept for future cutbait for striper/catfish/pier fishing. And yeah Nam, it was fun stuff. When we gonna hit Newport?

Yeah, I caught the Jack smelt on lures with my new 9 foot medium/light. Fun stuff. Man can those little guys hit hard!

too cold to be in the water right now,
I don't have anything to keep me warm from water coming into the kayak
when the weather warms up again we'll hit up newport!
