Okay, since I don't think anyone from today's group is going to take the initiative to write the report...here I am.
(Osiito didn't show up...found out that a flat tire ruined his day...you could have called the landing or one of us...)

From the night before I was requested by a fellow member/angler to school Alan. Actually begged could be a more accurate word. For me, this is a big challenge since we all know Alan's incredible beginner's luck has been whooping butt for the past couple of weeks. BUT, not today...LOL!! If not me, Juan definitely had him educated by then of the day!
Sorry Alan, we took you to school. Your luck has come to an end somewhere!!

So long story short, I had an awesome "Return of the Jedi" and "Empire Strikes Back" fishing day! After a loooong November of business trips, I really needed a day like this of fun, laughter and some butt kickin'!

As always, it was a real pleasure/honor to have fished with: k3vin_kim (Kevin), ymin72 (Mike), Cappo (Juan), One_Leg (Alan), Walter (sorry can't remember your FNN name), and LASmoker (Bob). I love fishing...

4:45am It started with me picking up Alan on my way to Redondo Sportfishing. I was actually on time..amazing.
5:15am We get to the landing to find no one at the ticket office.
5:20am We buy our tickets and drive over to the launch pad. It was too cold for us to get in line and wait. So we waited in my car. And since everyone else was doing the same, we still didn't know who was here and not. I spot Mike and he comes over to my car and we chill (literally).
5:45am Mike gets a phone call from Kevin. "I just woke up...."
5:46am I tell Mike to call Kevin and tell him "He'll make it here by 6:00am. Tell him to haul butt!"
6:00am We load onto the Spitfire and guess who makes it....KEVIN!! YEAH!
6:15am We launch and off to the bait barge.
6:30am We leave the bait barge.
7:30am We arrive a spot#1 for some sculpin fishing.
8:30am We limit out and Capt. announces we're going north! Take a nap people!
--I go to sleep and have nothing to tell you about for a while....

10:30am We arrive at spot#2 up north by Pepperdine for some bass/rockfish hunting.
We stayed around here for the rest of the day. Hit and move, hit and move. Nothing spectacular except for the few batray hookups, a few out-of-season legal-sized ling cods and the usual NBU fun!!
2:30pm We make our last move and it's time to go home. Throughout the day I was having the weirdest fishing experience ever! I had one of each species. It was weird. Every drop, every hook up was a different kind of fish...how is that possible?? And it wasn't even location dependent. We could be on the same spot, I'd fish from the same spot on the rail and a different fish...

So here are the pics!

If Trolly had a Persian brother...this is him!!

The suicide beer-bomber!! Yalalalala~

Can you see the disappointment of Alan's face...if only it was 2-days earlier...

FIGHT NIGHT ON THE SPITFIRE!!
In the blue corner, Persian Trolly with 8 beers and no passouts...In the red corner, Mike "The Soju Master" Min with 5 beers and no passouts (today).....ding ding!!

Yes Alan, it's a squid...
http://tsuribaka.us/photos/20071202/HPIM0800.jpg
(anyone recognize who he's sitting next to?? LOL!)

I wonder what they're talking about....

Water conditions...can you say FLAT AS GLASS!?!?!

My collection of variety. I have a couple chuckleheads...but only one of everything else...

The aftermath of Alan in the "heat of the moment". Evidently that's oyster sauce and squid juice...

Mike's proud JP fish...how does he do it?!?!
http://tsuribaka.us/photos/20071202/DSCN1527_1.jpg
It weighed in at exactly 6lbs!!

At the fillet table, out from one of the fishes insides comes this sea slug. We were all admiring it's absolute ugliness when....

He's definitely got issues....

Nice write up Joe. It was a blast fishing with the crew again. Too bad others couldn't make it.
The only pics I have are the same as yours. I'll try to take more next time.
Thanks to the Spitfire crew for another great outing. And special thanks to BobbyK for the secret bait.

Bob your one crazy mofo.

No more eating slugs and livers and assorted bait fish guys!

I have learned not to school the people who are kind and gracious enough to give you rides to the boat...lol
Oh yeah, thanks Funjunkie74 for letting me use your $5 off coupon. Next time I bring it to the landing, I'll remember to take it with me to the landings office.

BTW, Walter's screen name is FleaFlicker.

Nice meeting Kenny Mac, and Pam. 8) and all the others onboard too.

It was funny getting to know the Persian Version of the Trollmiester. If those two get together, look out!!! I guess the Big Man upstairs didn't break the mold after all. His stories kept me in stitches all day. It was fun sharing the rail with UniBomber Jr. Saeed, I hope to fish again with you soon, Good Buddy!!!

Craig went the extra mile, and even took over ghettos dads babysitting duties, Morgan was everpresent, as usual, in the event of a catch or tangle, Derek served up a great mess as always, and BobbyK kept his little pinhead buddy in check. What do they call him again" Oh yeah, now I remember, I think he's name is, "What are you doing in the galley, get your butt out here on deck."...j/k He's a good kid though.

Joe, if only you had bought the camera with the wide angle lens!!!! BTW, sesgias computer is broken.

Oh yeah, Mike gets another $ sign on his avatar.

Hey Joe! Where you goin' with that cod in your hand?
Hey Joe! I said, where you goin' with that cod in your hand?
I'm goin' down to put it in my bag, you know I caught another cod on the end of my line.
I'm goin' down to put it in my bag, you know I caught another cod on the end of my line...and ain't that so cool!

That's my fishing version of "Hey Joe" by Jimi Hendrix...

Anyway, dig your reports as usual Joe. I especially like the minute by minute, sometimes second by second reporting.
One last thing, though, Joe, you f__ked up on your fish ID's. The bulk of your catch is made up of BROWN ROCKFISH, a.k.a. BOLINA or CHOCOLATE BASS. You do have one "Chucklehead" in the mix, centrally located in the picture of your catch which actually called a Copper or Whitebelly Rockfish.

I also see a Yellowtail rockfish, a.k.a. "Johnny Bass, and a Treefish, a.k.a. "Lipstick Bass, and a Vermillion Rockfish, a.k.a. "Red dog", and a California Scorpionfish, a.k.a. "Rattlesnake or Sculpin, a Whitefish, a.k.a. "Whitey Herzog", and last but certainly not least, I see a California Sheephead (male), a.k.a. "Billy Goat".

Nice rounded out sack of fish you got there!!! Sorry for the critical content, just wanted to give you a bit of a hard time since you got to go fishing and I had to work!!!

Is that Saied in the beer bomb contraption picture? He's a really cool guy to fish with, and he speaks Farsi which I thought was cool.

Nice report and fish too, I've been holding out on the fishing, need to go to Japan on December 20.

Nice trip guys! Maybe I'll join you if you're heading out anywhere on the 15th... I just picked up a new rod (Seeker American 8ft'er... yes I know, I'll probably never use it but once... twice if I'm lucky) with the Sports Authority 25% coupon from this weekend. So I'm itching to give it a shot :)

Man Bob, quit scarin all the ladies! :P

I'm glad you all got out there this Sunday and the water layed down for you.

He looks like he could be The Trollmeisters brother from another mother. I like the boat bumpers! But there is no one "like" Trolly.

Alan - sorry you caught the big ling instead of the big sheepshead. When you catch a big sheepshead, bring it by and I'll cook it for you. I like the NBU jackets. Their pretty cool. What does one need to do to get one of those?

Granny, you got a deal!!! I love your cooking!!!

As far as the NBU sweatjackets are concerned, I think you'd look better in one of the BBFNN full length fishnet body suits!!! 8)
An added benefit is that you can use it as a net if you forget yours at home. I can drop it off for you at your convenience.

You know, if I knew, I would tell you, but I don't.
It was just plain weird...every drop a different fish.
On some drops, since we're using strip squid, I would leave it on their, land the fish and re-use the same bait...and STILL land something different!

Alan, you're so full of it!! You couldn't school me this day, even if you had 8 legs!! LOL!! Although Cappo had the hotstick for the day, I did well enough to take you to school!! YAH!!

No sweat on the coupon!! We all forget something, somewhere.

I didn't take the picture (obviously).

Dude, what you have is called "Shokugyo-byo" in Japanese...meaning "Work Place Illness"...in English means..."Get a freakin' life"!! LOL!!!!

I've never been good with keeping track of fish names...it's a disability of sorts.
Kinda like how I can't remember peoples' names 5 minutes after I meet them.
After you mentioned it, I was like "yeah...those are freakin brownies...damn...but I'm too lazy to edit my post....oh well..."

Are ya ever gonna come fish with us again??
