We caught this scully near the breakwall in LB a couple of days ago. When the fish was next to the boat, we noticed it was barely hooked. After getting a few pics, the scully came unbuttoned which was cool. The only thing is we wish we had a length on her. Does anyone have a guess on how many inches? For scale, the hook is a size 6. We boated a 15 inch scully a few days before and this one was clearly way bigger. Check out the poisonous spines (pic 2)!

This sculpin is still out there! :D

It's really hard to try to measure when the fish is underwater- do you have any pics of this fish in the boat once it was landed?

I'd say it was about 13" long. I had some Sculpin Sashimi last Sunday. It's great!!!!!!

What camera were you using to snap the pictures? Were you just holding it with you arm extended into the water or did you have any device to aid in the photo taking?

Thanks for the the nice comments guys. The underwater pics were taken by just droping it down in the water with your hands. Thats it! We use Canon's WP-DC4 underwater case for my digital camera. In our opinion, Canon is the way to go if the budget is there. Unfortunately the case cost almost as much as the camera. We love it during our fishing trips and especially when we are catching some sweet waves out in Huntington Beach, El Porto..... You get some crazy pics/video: right on the face dropping down. :D
