I recently purchased some fish trap swimbaits. Do u guys know a good lead head color on the calico bass?

Imho,,,red or orange work well.

i used light blue with a red chin all day saturday and didn't get any calico's
i did get 3 scully's and a sandie though
i really like the owner darter heads and smaller swimbaits for calico's but
then again i've never caught one over 5 pounds

I really don't think the color of the leadhead really matters that much, BUT I really feel that eyes are key. Kind of like a focal point.
Other than that if I do use a painted head I try to match it to the color of the tail.
Plain, unpainted lead heads are the best.

Deopends on the color of the swimbait itself, IMHO. You don't want a Mint Green leadhead on a brown colored fishtrap.
Remember, mtach the hatch, or as close as you can get it.

Plain, unpainted lead heads are the best.
I tend to only use the plan ones as well. Only thing i look at is the weight. Other then that, I will only get specific on color for the plastic.

I like dull natural colored heads for Calicos. Either painted to match the bait or unpainted lead. Having eyes on the head hasn't made any difference for me over the years.
I do like bright colored heads for Sand bass, though...
