do i need to adjust my carburator? i live in riverside and usualy fish out at silverwood but i want to tkae the boat out to big bear where the altitude is is higher, im not going to go alot, so for a one time deal do i have to adjust the carburator on a 85 mercury?

If you know how to do it yourself, obviously the answer is yes. If you go more than once a year, consider buying a prop with the correct pitch, or you'll just end up stalling out constantly.

I don't know what altitude BBL is, but I'm assuming it's a significant change from Riverside.

I'd say just give it a shot and if you can adjust your mixture, know how to do it just in case. On newer carb outboards you can't even adjust the mixture due to EPA regs. This is done by re jetting the carbs. My Honda 30hp ran just fine up there without doing anything.
